There is a midi controler made by Roland that you need to control the souds of the Pa3x.

If you mean audio and not midi then there is not much purpose in plugging a guitar into a Pa3x except perhaps for recording an mp3.
You can use Audio In but in order to record using L and R you need to go to Global, Audio Setup, Audio in, and change Input Routing from Mic to L+R. Then you will be able to record. Alternatively you can leave it set to mic and use the multi jack input.
As far as effects are concerned I don't think you can do much other than vocal effects if you are using the mic input.
Hope this helps.
