Slider caps
Just had a repair on my trinity - power supply failed and Korg unable to supply a new part - managed to get round it. The silver beast must be getting old!!!!!
Looking for a slider cap if anyone has one - please let me know if you have one and how much etc.
Cheers,
Ian M.

Disappointed, this is the second time I have recently posted and not even received a single response. it would be great if someone even said, sorry, I can't help, but nobody does. I removed my last post because I was embarassed at the lack of response - I managed to repair the failed power supply without any help.
I thought this was a community - got that wrong.
You would think that everyone would have the same concerns about outdated technology but no, you have to be made to feel as though the question you ask is unanswerable.
Daz says, be patient, and despite his brilliant help in the past, I'm done!!!!!!!!!
My Korg Trinity is 14 years old, has been extremely well looked after, is in pristine condition, has been well played and utilised, but hey, I'm not going to beg for help.
I wish you all the best with your instruments, but I'm moving on................cos no-one will speak to me.
Won't be looking here for help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Cheers.

Sorry you feel that way my friend. I'm only at best a casual browser here so I can often go days/weeks without checkin in & I do more reading than posting.7121239 wrote:Disappointed, this is the second time I have recently posted and not even received a single response. it would be great if someone even said, sorry, I can't help, but nobody does. It's a large forum with LOTS of catagories so I guess things may easily go under the Radar.
I'm a Trinity user myself...have been since 95' 96...owned 3 thus far (2 vanilla & 1 V3).
Korg UK usually has spare parts for most things but these do seem to be something the don't have any stock of.
My advice (poor as it may be) would be to double up (they're cheap enough) or search Ebay for Trinity Slider Caps (They crop up from time to time).
I have several of most of my synths (01/w's Trinity's Tritons) that I've either picked up Cheap or as a Spares & repairs purely to Syphon bits & bobs from.
these little extras are pretty much like rocking horse s**t as the years go on but you'd be surprised at what prices some people give them away for these days.
M1/01/w/X3 etc...all had the same sliders...later the Triton & the N models had the same but in Grey. The Trinitys however remain unique (& I love 'em for it!)
Best of luck.

they are very hard to get hold of
but we could get some alu versions made
but for that to happen there needs to be a demand for them as
initial tooling costs can be expensive for 1 or 2 one offs
the z1 also has the same slider
there was a seller in the uk on ebay recently selling them for £15
i brought a spare
no body is ignoring you we all have lives out side of this forum and i frequent 1 or 2 times a month and not many people answer mine even when i give away .img of pcm disks not even a thankyou
but i still post and answer when i can

DcPete and jhulk - you guys know that a little response means such a lot.
Viewing a post and just saying nothing is the same as saying, I'm not interested in your problem.
The whole meaning of community is that your peers make you feel part of the whole thing, give you hope and most of all, give you encouragement.
Despite me going off on one..............your simple responses have given me a boost. Thanks for that.
As I said in my post, it is purely cosmetic, but never-the-less I pride myself in the care of any instrument - I know sliders are more or less standard - I've searched Maplin but am struggleing to source these simple parts.
All the best to you fellow Trinity disciples.........

Have to ask. You've been registered since 2005 and you have 20 posts. Where have you been a part of or helped 'the community' in that time? It's a two-way street.7121239 wrote:Disappointed, this is the second time I have recently posted and not even received a single response. it would be great if someone even said, sorry, I can't help, but nobody does. Furthermore if I had a problem, and posted on the forums asking for help but managed to find a way to repair it in the interim, I'd help or become a part of 'the community' by making a second post to show how I repaired it for others to find if they have the same problem at a later date.
The Trinity is 20yrs old, which is quite old for a ROMpler in this day and age. There's been the Triton series, M3 series, Oasys and Kronos lines since then, and fewer Trinity users survive. Those that do check in weekly, fortnightly or monthly.
Personally I don't recall reading your other posts. If the thread titles were something like "Trinity PSU" or "Spare Slider Caps" usually I would not click on them due to:
1) having absolutely no idea about power supplies....whatsoever. Far too technical for me!
2) having no spare slider caps, no knowledge about them, and no idea where to get any.
If I had PSU knowledge or a spare slider cap, I would definitely have clicked on them, even though I did click on this one anyway. However I think it would be better for the original poster to have just one person reply saying "I have a slider cap" or "I know where to get one", even if it takes time, rather than 20 people saying "I have no idea where to get a slider cap". The latter wouldn't be an effective use of anyone's time.
As for me, I chip in on any Trinity thread I feel I can answer, and have done for last 12 years, nearly 3000 posts. Most of those have been in the Trinity and Moss sections (as well as General Music and News discussions). sometimes beyond the call of duty, including behind the scenes, yes, some are completely thankless, but I don't mind if it means helping a select few who genuinely appreciate it. However my 'field' of help is relatively narrow, usually synthesis or operating matters. Any problems "hardware" wise and I usually haven't got a clue, but there are others here that may do.
If I don't post, people have to accept it's not something I can necessarily personally help them with, otherwise I would. I would never ignore a thread I feel I could help with.

Hey Timo,
Thanks for the expected post, finally drew you out!!!.
The quality of a member surely is based on the knowledge of an individual and not the number of posts one makes. I could post 3001 posts tonight and does that make me better than you.
All my few posts have been seeking help and advice for which this forum is here for and gratefully has provided. I am not an expert and therefore have no advice to give.
I think for a member here, not appreciate what a 'power supply' refers to
is simply incredible and especially one of your experience. You have provided such a lot of advice to so many.
I took my Korg to a repairer who said the power supply has failed, I have tried to obtain a replacement, but Korg no longer supply them, the repairer then repaired it..............what possible information is there to impart to anyone else - it cost £80 and two journeys to drop off and then pick up, if that helps.
I have spent the 14 years of my Korg Trinity, actually using and playing it to great effect as opposed to posting on forums.
I hope you enjoyed the 3000 V 20 bully thing.
We are all equals - number of posts means nothing.........
Am finally logging out - any reply will be wasted, but who knows always an extra post!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

As did many of us, multiple times. It was the least we could do. Sharp and Daz are/were a phenomenal team.7121239 wrote:Oh, and just before I depart, when this forum was looking for financial support a few years ago, despite my shocking posting count, I still managed to contribute. Seems you were intent on causing trouble. I'll leave you to it.7121239 wrote:Hey Timo,

Timo
Hi there,
I wasn't intent on causing trouble and tried to show respect for others. I appreciate the amount of advice and help you personally have given to
members of this forum. As a moderator of some other forums, I can appreciate how easy it is to get dragged in to the, 'well I've made thousands of posts thing'.
You are one of the main men here, offer endless advice and support to countless members - keep up the good work - one forgets that we are supporting a constantly aging device........
As I said, I put my pride and joy into a repairer who said that the power supply had failed. As we all know, Korg has let us down in that they are not giving us support - you cannot get a replacement power supply. The repairer said that he would repair it even though it wasn't recommended. He did so.
I've no idea what he did, but consequently lost a slider knob which turn out to be like gold-dust to replace - hence my post.
Finally tracked down a supplier which provided me with x 10 knobs for about £10, and were delivered in less than 24 hours. There not Korg but
do the job.
I would like to apologise if you feel I have caused any offence - not intended - I admire your support.........
Cheers,
Ian M.

Perhaps I should direct my previous response to Timo.
I just love my Trinity and get emotional when it fails - aren't we all the same.
I just feel sometimes that we are all just living on borrowed time and the unit will fail, and all will be lost - is there some way to capture the sounds of this superb device before it dies.......................
Cheers,
IanM.

I have 2 trinity models one 61v 3 and one 88 note prox. Whenever possible I bought a good spare. If you love those sounds and need to modify them... nothing beats having the original sound engines.
I still use the. O1w 61 and o1rw....triton extreme 61 and 88.
I use them all. Money well spent for the finest collections of korg progs and combs.
Craigslist is good.
