Korg Kronos turned into Vst?
Just a thought do you think there will ever be a software version of the kronos.
We have an M1 so why not a kronos?

Because the M1 is a "classic" of sorts, and it seems doubtful the Kronos will ever reach that status.lotty1 wrote:Just a thought do you think there will ever be a software version of the kronos.

Besides, remember that the MS20 and Polysix are represented as VSTs already.

Discussed many times. As much as I would like something like this, it has little to no chance of happening. Some of us have the KLC and it has some elements like the Poly-Six and MS-20. But for the price of a Nano or Micro you could get the set cheaply or even free. And it is a good compliment to Kronos.
Another thing, I've been seeing the original Kronos 61's going for $1600.00 (refurbished) so your'e basically getting a second set with a computer.
I would love to see a 'Kronos companion' software made available to registered Kronos/Oasys users that had the strings and brass modelers, but when you think about it, what they would have to charge for it to make it profitable to them would make buying a second used Kronos a better way to go.

Your right about the programming but not sure a software version of a synthesizer means the death of a hardware version.SanderXpander wrote:It would

Not going to happen.
I know if I had a soft version of my kronos I would be able to take it anywhere my laptop went. Would probably learn how to program it quicker.
But as you say it will never happen

I have a kronos 73 but I always wanted an oasys and even if they did make a soft version of the oasys I would still buy hardware version.

Like you say, if you had a software version of the Kronos you could take it anywhere your laptop went. It wouldn't take you very long to figure out you could have the same sounds and just use a midi keyboard at the location.
In this I do believe it would mean the death of the hardware. The Kronos keyboard is, apart from a nice piece of kit, the ultimate dongle.

Unless they only make it available to registered Korg/Oasys users and tie it to the board like they do other sound libraries.SanderXpander wrote:It would

Seriously though, when you look at the price they charge just for additional sounds, you realize they would have to charge so much for this VST that most of us wouldn't be able to justify the cost.
It's really cheaper to buy a used Kronos 61 to carry around.
