Korg Zero 8 - Channel 7 and 8 stop working... :(

Post by paugui »

Hi all

After having had lots of problems with the touchscreen in my Korg Zero 8, I know have experienced another problem with it, as channel 7 and 8 stop working completely.

I have tried using the guitar input with the different channels and I got sound on all other channels except those two.

All the lights turn on (and the change of channels should work as I get different color when going to MIDI), but nothing more happens.

Before this problem showed up, the lights on the inputs seemed to have frozen and the sliders weren't responsive.

Anyone experienced a similar problem?
Is it expensive to fix?

Thanks in advance,
Best

Paulo

It seems it's the part of the sliders that doesn't work.

The rest lights up just fine, but the buttons A and B over the sliders of channel 7 and 8 don't light up at all, so my guess is that the problem is with all that part of the mixer.

Does anyone know if that's easy to fix?
Is there likely to be a fuse there that might need a change?
Anyone has some schematics of the mixer to make it easier to open it without damaging it?

Thanks in advance,
Best

Hi paugui

there are four "fader-modul-ports" inside the zero 8. You could try to connect the non working fader-modul to another port to check if the problem is the modul itself or the mixer.
I can pm you a link to the zero 8 service manual.

Thanks Marxon for your suggestion.

I actually already got the service manual, but am currently away, so I can't take care of that now.

Are the pieces in the fader module standard and easy to find to make a repair?
If it is in the mixer, shall it be more complicated to solve?

I'm quite upset cause I still spent a considerable amount of money on it, when comparing with the price one second hand would have cost me, and this is the worse machine I ever had in terms of reliability.
The money I would have spared would have solved all the problems I had with it and I would probably still have some money left...

Can't understand how a company like Korg could make something so unreliable...
A real shame cause when it is working it is a pretty cool mixer...

Just hope it's possible to repair it without costing too much...
