importing midi files

Post by BillyB »

Hello all - I confess I am a sequencing dummy. If I load a .mid into my M3's sequencer it plays fine but typically with the GM sounds. yet when i try and chanes from the typical GM sound that came with the file I cannot get it to "take" and stay? Any suggestions? This has got to be a simple thing but I am not getting it and readin the parameter guide or ops guide has not helped me. similar issue with tying to edit the tracks in terms of deleting or copying measures.etc...

The midi file probably has program change messages in it so when you play it resets the timbres to whatever is programmed in the file. You could use the sequencer editor to remove them or insert your own.

This karma-lab wiki shows how to insert program changes into a sequence.

You might also be able to disable all program changes in Global mode on P1:MIDI, MIDI Routing tab. Uncheck the Enable Program change checkbox.
