Clearing KP3 Sample Banks w/o Turning Unit Off

Post by lordbovary »

Good Evening Everyone,

Hoping to get some guidance. Looking to do what the title says. How do I clear the sample banks without turning the unit off. I want to do a lot of live looping but want to be able to clear the sample banks quickly and easily.

I have looked everywhere trying to figure this out and have come up short!

Thanks!

Hi lordbovary,

unfortunately there is no direct "bank clear" function.
you could load a "all" setup with empty banks from sd card but this needs some time, too. there is also no sound from kp3 during loading. :(
Another way is to transmit empty sample banks via the editor to the kp3.

Best regards

Thanks for the reply, Marxon.

Unfortunate that there is no quick function. Looks like I will be loading blank samples inbetween songs.

Thanks again.

But you don't need to clear a bank per se - you can always simply record over it.

I was under the impression that it overdubbed what I had previously recorded when I recorded over it....

which pad are you talking about - the kp3 or pro.

the pro does the overdubs - the kp3 you would need to re-sample subsequent overdubs to another blank pad.

On the KP3, recording onto a pad overwrites anything previously recorded there. If that's all you need to do, you're set.

Problem resolved?

I dusted off the KP3 today and was wondering why there wasn't a simple way to delete a sample. I would think that this function would be one of the first to be incorporated during the white boarding phase of development. I found no solutions after multiple web searches so I relied on my technical background - I started pushing random buttons. If there is a bank you want to erase on the fly do the following:

1. Hit the sample button
2. Double tap the sample bank you want to erase

A weird message will scroll but the bank will be empty and will inherit a stunning red hue. This color change will just remind me that the bank is empty but once had data. Empty banks that never had data just sits there, lifeless, without the red hue. So far my KP3 hasn't blown up as a result of using this method.

I just checked and that weird message is "InfinitHP+", the same message one gets from recording a regular sample.

What you've done is create a very short one-hit sample, as opposed to a loop. When sampling if you hit the sample bank button again before the end of the defined loop length (4, 8, 16 etc) then the sample is saved as a one hit and the button glows red.
