Kind of confussed how onboard sequencing would work on this
First off excuse my lack of knowledge of new terms
Just kind of wondering. Because from hearing what people have done on just the microstation, I don't notice more then 2 instruments ever playing on any of the ""microstation only"" creations. I remember I had a old Roland RS with 8 part multi timber "spelling?" and a sequencer.
On the RS I would do like full 8 part arrangements. Bass, Strings, Flute, Sax, horns, Sound effects, Drum changes and rolls etc, etc. With changes after changes. I would do the drums on 8 sequenced tacks all marked midi 0. I would do like 20 parts to run along as a song with rolls and stuff. Then bounce them all to the first midi track and make the second track a bass ala track midi 001 (If old terms make sense to anyone lol.)
What Im in basic asking is can you truly do 16 different parts and record a 3 to 4 minute arrangement so to speak on just the Microstation as I once did a RS? Can I have drum changes and rolls with not such a constant rhythm. I mean the stuff I heard sounds good what people have done. Im just a tad curious how creative you can get with 4 or 5 or 6 or 14! sounds/instruments all in one song? Or how long as far as song length, and drum arrangements. All on board the microstation?
And again excuse my lack of knowledge of new terms. Ive been off keys for what seems to be ages. And just doing guitar. AS of late all my stuff is just guitar and bass work and some BR-800 internal drums on a BR-800 portable multi tracker. Things a awesome 8 track to demo with by the way http://www.youtube.com/user/BlueTransAm83 as you can tell with me just messing here. Oh and can I use the BR 800 as the sequencer (and its drums) if I want more variation? And Yes I plan on a microstation within a week or so, that why asking now.

Yes, as mS can deliver 120 voices/polyphony at ones.
Just look at this youtube playlist, what ppl can do on mS:

I find it easier to record multiple audio tracks on a DAW because Korg will not update their software... midi is so hit and miss but check my other posts!
Open the VST software and select the SEQ button... this will show the 16 instruments on each midi channel. Pick what you want.
I do wish you could edit the on board sequencer from a mac or PC - Are you listening Korg??????

Thank you vary much for the link and info. I'm also trying to find a used old Roland JV-1010 for some multi-timbral "spelling" on parts that need to be their but don't need as much oomph as a layered strong front bass or lead parts needs.
What I would love is for the miniStation just to have to concern itself with a strong m-50 like sound and external the other sequenced tracks to a 1010 or something like that for touch up backing stuff. Use the kits in the BR-800 (Which I can deal with) and that would be good for me now. But I miss affordable multi -timbral creations.

P.S. that's a cool track/song and kinda fun to pick up the guitar and mess with playing over with the guitar.bradkorg wrote:Yes, as mS can deliver 120 voices/polyphony at ones.

Does the microStation save sequences as standard midi files?YorkshireLakeside wrote:I find it easier to record multiple audio tracks on a DAW because Korg will not update their software... midi is so hit and miss but check my other posts!

In theory; lol - Good luck!!!!
Unfortunately... I still complain to Korg about it - which I think other people should as well otherwise nothing will get done about it.

Yea I already looked up how to save stuff and come back to it via (SD CARD memory I guess,),, and many were just lost on the subject. And its kind of complicated but when you read threw it The steps im sure will become second nature. A lot told me doing drums and saving stuff and doing effects on the BR-800 multi track would be hard, and it was a bit at first, but you just go step by step (look up when you get stuck on mesage boards) and before you know it I thought the BR was kind of easy actually compared to nasty multi tracks in the 90s were. Im sure this will be no different as they all tech equipment has some big learning curves to be accepted.YorkshireLakeside wrote:In theory; lol - Good luck!!!!
