Krome 88 : is the NH keyboard the same as the sp-170 ?

Hello to all
I plan to buy the Krome 88 but I cannot find it in shops around
I had the sp-170, equipped with a keyboard with the same "NH" name, I know best key actions ...
Does someone know if these two keyboards are exactly the same ???

Yes supposedly they should be exactly the same.

"My understanding is the Krome uses the same keybed as the PS60, which is NOT the same as the M50. Note in the specs how they call them by different names/descriptions. And the 88 uses a variation of the keybed used on the SP-170. Lighter and more affordable...

As Roger said, I confirm, the keyboard is exactly the same as the sp-170, some like it, some do not, like me, too much inertia to press the keys, not light enough

Hi Frog 62 I tried out all 3 yesterday at a Guitar center. I had my wife with me who used to teach and play piano and I had here confirm everything I felt about the 3 keybeds. The Kronos 88 was the best The Sp 250 88 a close second but the Krome 88 was not even close very spongy feel to it. I don't now what keybed they are using but I have played a friend of mines M50-88.
If the Krome 88 is supposed to be a replacement they should have left the keybed the same. Also the SP 250 had a sticker on the top key saying RH-3.
I was think of getting the KROME 73 But not if it has the same keybed as the Krome 61, it feels like your playing a toy Casio. Right now I use an arranger the old PA1XPro elite, 76 keys. I love the keybed on it the keys are 6 inchs long and have a very nice resistance to them but not the full resistance of the 88 keybeds. Good luck with it. It does have beautiful pianos. Bob

Im a pianist/keyboardist also,I had the Korg SP-200 digital piano which I liked much better than the SP250 and 170 I now own the Krome 88.
I have found no problem with the action at all I like that its heavier, doesnt feel spongy to me.What also I like is when trying to do a repeat on the same key quickly it responds even better than some of the RH3 keybeds.Ive had a few pianist's/ keyboardists try it... with no complaints as well.It's all subjective as Stephen said in another thread.

Hey Music Man, I was only Expressing what I felt in playing the keyboards at the store. I will try the Krome 88 out again. I like what Morty had to say about the fast key repeating. That's always been a problem in trying to find a happy medium, the piano parts are a struggle with fast arpeggio it's to easy to get a head of your self with out weighted keys, but for the synth's and organ patch's there usually to slow reacting. Also I missed you post about JerytheK. I always respect the reps I used to employee about 10 of them across the USA

Not fair to judge JerrytheK this way. He retired from Korg last year and is no longer a rep. Precisely why he said "it was his understanding..."

Where in my reply did you discern I was "judging" Jerry?

There has been so much speculation about keybed, sampling, etc I simply was quoting his response on another forum to try to add some concrete information, He didnt say I think, or I feel, he said it was his understanding. How does one glean understanding? By study, by discourse, by real world interaction.

I would think, even though he severed the umbilical cord, he has ties and inside information with his former employer.

There was nothing negative directed to him or the other participants in the post.

I own a Krome 73 and I am OK with its feel, but action and feel are subjective.Just so you know, the Krome is being discussed over at the Keyboard Mag forum, and although the features are generally accepted, the feel of all three models are receiving negative comments by a majority of the posters there.Whereas here, there are less negative comments.
So how would you explain the difference in reception of the keybed here versus there?I am sure we have "professional" players on this board.

I have to say I love Korg's RH3 action, but I'm still wondering about that NH action used on the Krome 88... I have played a Triton ProX (the original Triton with 88 keys) and it felt very heavy and spongy at the same time... is NH the same action or feels similar to that? Does anyone know?

I have the Krome 88 for about 6 months now. I am happy with ist Features, but I am not happy with the keybed. There are more and more "chattering" keys. In the shop, they had only a Krome 76 Version to test + a SV-1. They told me the keybeds are exactly the same. I went back to the shop now, the SV-1 is still there - no chattering, nice quiet action!

I will have to return it now, will see what happens.

If anyone knows how to adjust chattering keys, this might help a lot of People in the long term (when warranty ends)

Krome, kross 88 and SP170 use the NH keybed (entry-level with spongy and light piano feel). SV-1 uses the RH3 keybed.
