Arp Ribbon Wear
Guess i should've trimmed my claws before jamming out on the Electribe, cause now the ribbon is starting to get a gritty, worn feel to it. I'm wondering if anyone has any tips on how to maintain/repair/protect their arp ribbon that they'd feel like sharing. I'm thinking something along the lines of a piece of clear tape, but i'm worried about the ensuing gunk when that starts to wear through.
Thoughts?

yeah.. definitely trim the claws.
as for the clear tape idea.. I also think it'd get gunky after a while.. the heat generated by the Electribe would probably slowly melt the glue over time..
If you were to do something like that, try find a matte tape. helps prevent finger stickage like what I experience on the Kaoss pad's regularly.. if your fingers get even slightly clammy they don't glide anymore...
another suggestion (which I've thought about doing for Kaoss pad/KoPro) is using a thin glove of soft non-abrasive material.. one hand.. Michael Jackson style :p

I removed a little of the chaos from my kaossilator by printing a grid onto a clear plastic sheet and placing it over the top of the XY pad. It is still just as responsive. You could probably do the same with the ribbon on the EMX.
The only drawback to this was that I had to take apart the kaossilator to insert the plastic sheet. I imagine you'd need to do the same with the EMX.

I'll upload some...I've got a soundcloud account going but it's only got uncut stuff on it. I'm not happy with my EQ coming through my computer into Audacity. It's here but right now it's just got a couple of sketchpad recordings. I've got some halfway-decent stuff now so I'll upload that soon. I want to do animations and stuff as well but it might be best to get somew MP3s down first.
I dunno, I don't put as much emphasis on actual recording as I should. It's mainly just about sitting down at the battlestation and trying to improve on what I have.

I feel where you're coming from. You should join in the "one song a month challenge" on here next year. Challenge yourself to complete one full track each month. My first proper hardware track was this years january entry and the snowball has been rolling since. But everyones wheels fell off (including mine in august) my over-all song structure is a weak point cos I'm still stuck in the pattern-based-muting frame of mind. it's always good to put a little pressure on.
On what zululord said: It might be possible to replace/ cover the arp ribbon strip if you're brave enough to dismantle your electribe.
What's the problem with EQ you're having? Is your audio interface/ sound card not capturing the spectrum accurately? Can't you post EQ it back into shape?
