EMX-1 R3 N00B MIDI Prob...

I've never used the MX as a sound module with the R3. I was hoping to get some saw/square synth part with some gnarly modulation going, add some delay and a little compression, and make a few one shots... But, nope.
I'm admittedly MIDItarded. I set each to Channel #1. Set synth part 1 to Channel #1. But all synth parts play when key on R3 is pressed. Am I forgetting some sort of global setting?
