can vocoder mike be used as normal vocal mike?
I mean can it be used straight without any effects just for singing along with the R3 keyboard accompaniment?

Hold SHIFT and hit button 3 (the vocoder button, with Audio In Thru below it). If you've got your input set to Line 1 and the XLR button on front activated, you should be able to speak into the mic. There's also an option within the vocoder edit parameters for Direct Lvl, which is dry input signal VS vocoded. If you crank this it'll be unaffected by the vocoder. I think when you do it this way you can apply effects to normal vocals but I've never tried it...
I tried it out before but it bypasses the effects section. You can chain effects to the microphone though by initializing a patch, setting Osc 1 to Audio In, then taping down a key. Running vocals through the grain shifter sounds like a total acid trip, haha.thehighesttree wrote:I think when you do it this way you can apply effects to normal vocals but I've never tried it...
