Need Help With New OS Resources

Post by JACKB »

I've loaded the new OS into the Pa3x. No problem there at all. I followed the directions then loaded the factory resources, so I can get to the new styles, voices and new Songbook entries. So far so good, naturally all my own settings are gone, but I have them backed up. When I load my back up things get overwritten and I wipe away all the new styles, voices and the factory Songbook. How do I get to reload my personal settings without overwriting voices, styles and Songbook :?:

Jack,

Save your older resources with the Media > Save operations.
Then do a Factory Restore to load the new resources.
Finally, use the Media > Load operations to reload your older resources in any free location.

Backup is intended for safety archival. If you want to reuse single banks or resources, you must save them.

How to merge my songbook entries with factory ones

Post by bugzoo »

Paolo,

How do I merge my saved songbook entries with the factory ones? When I loaded them they erased all the new factory songbook entries.

I think the instructions for doing this should have been included with the OS upgrade instructions. The instructions just told us to save but stopped there...

Also the instructions neglected to mention that a warning screen will come up indicating you will be initializing the factory disk area. This was terribly frightening since it sort of indicated that the hard drive was going to be erased! And I have lots of precious files on my hard drive.

Songbook merge?

Post by bugzoo »

I've got backups. That's not the problem. I need to find a way to load in and merge my saved personal Songbook files in with the existing factory songbook files already in the PA3x. I know there is a PC editor for this but I am a Mac user. Is there really no way to combine Songbook files on the PA3x itself?! That seems crazy for a $4000 keyboard.

Use the PC based Songbook Editor...make sit easy to drag and drop..

Just open two instances, one with your old songbook, one with the new songbook (although I doubt there is much new in it) and then just drag and drop between the two lists.

Ensure you set the target device (top right hand corner of the editor) to PA3x. It should do it by default, but sometimes it doesn't.

Hope that helps :)

I'm on Mac here. Maybe someday they will port it to Mac. There are a lot of musician Mac users these days...

Simple suggestion to fix merging songbook files

Post by bugzoo »

I do appreciate all the responses. Thank you. No one though, has said that it is not pssible to merge songbook files on the PA3x itself....

One way Korg could remedy this is to simply allow the PA3x to save the songbook entries as separate files in a songbook folder- instead of as one big single file. Then both Mac and PC users could rename and move the individual songbook files around and collect them into a folder and reload into the PA3x. We could also exchange single songs so much easier.

Another way to look at it... Is there a way to select more than one file when attempting to load a songbook entry? When I try to open the .SBD file in the Media window I see the individual files but I cannot find a way to select more than one file. This would be an easy fix to the above problem. Perhaps allow the user to hold the SHIFT button and click on each file they want to load?

Paolo?...
