Kronos X vs NeKo XXL
What can the Kronos do that the Neko cant & what can the Neko do that the Kronos can't.

Who cares?
Why waste any thought on an ugly, fat 6000$ tank, without any integration of the myriads of available VSTi software into one concept??? I have that on my PC already - at a third of the price.

Two very different machines.
From a productivity point of view the Neko simply doesn’t even come remotely close to the KRONOS for being fully integrated and so streamlined.
The Neko does have its benefits too though over a DAW. It is ultimately a very good attempt at organising a DAW environment and your workspace. When you taken into consideration all a DAW can do, you put that into a semi-integrated system and you have a very clean and organised workspace, the Neko is no doubth a powerful tool.
There are other options too though. The Lionstracs Groove X7 or a X-R rack unit offer far more integration than a Neko. They are by far closer to a workstation environment with all the benefits of a DAW. The only real downside is the OS. It’s linux. Having to run Windows apps under Wine on Linux works grand, but there are specific limitation as a result of this. Like for example, you cannot use Dongles for top end sample libraries.
The KRNOS is at the end of the day still the far better option. Ok, it won’t run VSTi’s and it won’t stream sample libarires anywhere even close to the size you can on a Neko or Lionstracs, but it’s still a far better musical instrument and I cannot stress how important that is.
The technology in the KRONOS is completely transparent. It does not get in your way at all from the ultimate goal which is to be productive in writing good music.
If money was no object, KRONOS with a Neko would be a totally awesome setup.
Personally, I’d still lean far more towards a KRONOS and a X-R (which I do have right now) because it’s simply far better value. The X-R is almost five times less than a Neko and the KRONOS acts as a great controller.
Regards
Sharp.

The thing i do like about the Neko is the massive Sound packages that it comes with it has Native Instruments Komplete 8,E-Mu,Guitar rig & a lot more out of the box. That part is very impressive.Does anyone know if we will b able 2 get some of these Sound packages in our Kronos with OS2.0 ? That would b impressive.

It would be more impressive if you try to think for yourself: Kronos does not support any VSTi (yet?) and probably never will as a replacement of an EXi. Totally different architecture (or let's say host system).KorgisKing wrote:The thing i do like about the Neko is the massive Sound packages that it comes with it has Native Instruments Komplete 8,E-Mu,Guitar rig & a lot more out of the box. The last would be impressive, the first not. What is the difference between a Neko (which IS a PC) to install those software packages or a regular PC having them installed? Probably you need to pay them for installing them for you.KorgisKing wrote:The thing i do like about the Neko is the massive Sound packages that it comes with it has Native Instruments Komplete 8,E-Mu,Guitar rig & a lot more out of the box. 22" Touch Screen - £155
16GB Ram/i5/Desktop/Win7 Pro - £500
Decent ASIO Sound Card - £175
Reaper DAW - £39
Take ya pick of VST/Soft Synths
Mine would be.. (although I alerady have Omnisphere and Reason 5)
Omnisphere - £279
Reason 6 - £279
Total so Far.. £1427
So you can chuck in a Kronos or JP80 or XF or PC3 in front of the touchscreen and still be cheaper than a Neko and a whole lot more flexible.
