Kronos CD Burning Help
Hi everyone, i'm a new member. I just bought the Kronos and i'm having trouble burning a cd.
I'm doing everything correctly ( as far as the manual goes ), but after i finalize the cdr disc, all i get is 4 seconds of playback then it cuts out!
Please can anyone help?
Thanks.

Same Problem!!
I am having the same problem!!! The last thing I heard was we don't have a compatible cd rom drive and I am not confident as to which one to buy for I have tried two different drives. Rumor is..we need a self powered drive but those are almost impossible to find. Is there anyone else who is recording to cd? What model is you cd drive?
No, i checked the sample time too and it's 4 minutes+ashboe wrote:Not trying to be flippant.....but has your wave file only got 4 seconds of sound on it?
I just bought a Samsung SE-208 external writer for £45 and it looks like the swine isn't gonna be compatible!
I managed to save some Waves to a USB flash drive and transfered it to my laptop to burn discs that way instead. More time consuming but there you go.
Are you sure your burning an AUDIO CD and not a DATA CD ?

I'd like to see your source for this.... I've been burning audio tracks to CD-Rs for more than 13 years now (bought my first CD-R drive in 1998) and haven't had any problems with regular data discs. The only problems I ever remember having were issues around CD players not being able to read discs with unclosed sessions or certain older CD players (say, ones made in the 80s) not being able to read anything longer than 74 minute discs.ronnfigg wrote:Tron- most music CD-Rs have a little musical note on them to signify that they are for audio data. regular data CD-Rs don't work very well for audio.
It was my experience when I worked at a computer store many moons ago that the "Audio" CD-Rs were nothing more than a marketing gimmick and an excuse for the manufacturers to charge people more. There's lots of things like that in the consumer electronics industry.

Thanks Jeeb- I just did a little reading. no more money wasted on audio cds. I will just be buying a little bit better quality data cds. I had to switch to the audio cds when I had some problems with data cds. the data cds were some off brand cheap ones from fry's electronics. I should have known better. these forums can be helpful in more ways than 1.

Actually older days was a difference for commercial purposes
I don't know if still remains !
That difference wasn't optical material of CDs since is exactly the same,
but a written header on commercial Audio Cds that older home CD-RW players should read
in order to enable recording mode else the message "Not Audio CD" was appearing !
Try to use CD low burning speed for your Audio stuff and you get the same results.

Cd-r/rw format!
USB CD-R/RW and DVD drives
KRONOS supports three CD‐R/RW formats: UDF, CDDA
(audio CDs) and ISO9660 (level 3).
Standard saving and loading from CD‐R/RW drives
uses the UDF format, which allows you to treat CDs
much as you would a hard drive. For more
information, see “CD‐R/RW disks on the KRONOS:
UDF and packet‐writing” on page 1149 of the
Parameter Guide.
You can load data from ISO9660 (level 3) discs, but
KRONOS does not write directly to ISO9660 format.
You can, however, convert a UDF‐formatted CD‐R/RW
to ISO9660 format, for easier loading on other systems.
For more information, see “Convert to ISO9660
Format” on page 849 of the Parameter Guide.
You can also load data from UDF‐formatted DVDROMs.
I hope this helps

I'm having the exact same issue with my new Kronos. I can create audio CDs but only the first 4 seconds is on each disk.
Based on input from this thread, I have tried:
1. Switching to blank "audio" CDs, which produced identical results (I do not think there is any difference between these disks and normal blank CDs).
2. Tried changing to the Asus SDRW-08D2S-U drive, and still no luck ... identical results ... failure.
My wave files are fine, and I can copy those to a thumb drive and burn those from my home computer using iTunes, but the Kronos has failed me. I'm running the latest 2.1 OS. If anyone has any other ideas, let me know, but I'm about to file a warranty claim for this thing.
