Octave UP/Down

Post by junekat »

Is there a way or switch to go up an octave or down an octave on the kronos 61 key?

Some of the sounds let you use the switches above the joystick for that very thing. Mainly piano sounds though.

You can set the switches to up or down octave yourself for a program or combi in the controller tab.

I want to do it in the sequencer so I can access all the sounds on the drum kit.

I'm not sure how to do that but you might be able to create a duplicate drum track and use another midi channel.

I never really understood the logic behind not giving atleast Octave Up/Down keys if not transpose. Makes live acts hard if you get an idea and quickly wanna do something you haven't saved or previously edited and programed.

I know what you mean but that has been the trend in keyboards for several years now.

Most keyboards that I've played have an octave up/down, except for the 88 key pianos. Not just Roland.

Many of the programs and combis have an "octave up" effect set to the switches. (ie. the Octave strings)

I just checked. If you go to the "controllers" tab, you'll find an option/action that you can select for each switch. You will find the options "Octave down" and "Octave up" in the list.

This synth has so many features I don't know how anybody is supposed to remember them all! And I'm glad it does! The Kronos rules!

Yes, I rather have a synth that has some option I never use, than options not available and I would really miss.

Having global transpose and octave buttons ready available on the front panel (even as soft buttons) is a must. Korg doesn't seem to comprehend this.

I guess it's importance depends on the size of your keyboard. I find on my 73 that I don't use SW1 all that much and only for piano sounds. I usually have it pre-set and tend to stay out of the way of the bass player. That's not a hard and fast rule though because it also depends on the particular song that we are playing.

+1

Or maybe its a way of pushing people to opt for the 73 and 88 keys only?
