End of an era...Ian F gone from Korg.com phone tech support!

Post by DennyC »

It was a sad day the other day, I dialed up Korg.com to ask about an issue with my Oasys; and normally, I would ask for Ian F. I was told he was no longer with the company. Korg customer service was what he was and what he did....and did it very well. He had been there over 12 years He was a huge contributor, a mainstay, IMHO. Very sad, I hope he landed somewhere good; as this is certainly not the economy to try to go and find another job in. The best to Ian! :) :)

Hi Fellas,
There are a few terrific techs at the service center (MAX). However, if you wanted something explained clearly, simply and thoroughly, then Ian was the man.
I have two Korg keyboards and a rack. He would take the Manuals---simplify them and have step by step outlines of how to proceed with whatever task you'ld like to do.
I'm pretty dense at times and yet he would take the time to explain, and make sure you understood what he was talking about.
He knew his stuff and more importantly----He was a very nice person. GOOD LUCK Ian

I really thought there would be more commentary on this. :) :)

Hi Denny,
Have you asked Max or any of the guys, what happened, or where Ian is situated?
Thanks Frank

Wow, I'm really surprised that more Oasys owners haven't commented on what a great job Ian did on the phone support. Many of you guys are more techy than I am so maybe you had never called him at Korg. :) :)

I'm afraid I never knew the chap - in fact with respect to the OASYS I have never needed any kind of tech support :)

Yes another advantage of building the OASYS the way Korg did - greatly reduces the workload of the tech support team! ;)

Hi Cello, I was hoping you wouldn't say that. :) I am not as techy as you are. BTW, Ian was well versed on the older Korg stuff also. I had a big collection of some of the older classic Korg boards, that I unfortunately sold,
but only to fund the Oasys. They had a different operating system. However, I do have the Wavestation a/d leftover. I really appreciate your level of knowledge and your posts. :) :)
