NanoPad USB spliter or MIDI output

Post by petessound »

hello everyone,

im trying to set up a nanopad to send MIDI data to two laptops at the same time (one is a back up rig). i cant seem to find a way of splitting USB signals. i wonder if theres a way of converting the USB to MIDI before it hits a computer then splitting the MIDI singal?

USB is a two way data connection where the host (computer) sets a lot of parameters, so you can't really split it.

You could use a program on the computer to send the MIDI from one to the other but then again I think that probably defeats what you are trying to achieve.

There have started to appear some devices that allow you to connect a USB-MIDI controller directly and convert to MIDI output/input, but I can't remember the name of any of them. It is certainly a direction worth looking into though.

I like the idea of a full failover system
