Korg PaAs vs a pair of Studio Monitors?
Keen on your thoughts? Would/Do you use the PaAs or for the similar/same price, get a pair of Studio Monitors instead?

I had to do some looking to find the product specs for the PaAS.
If I was looking for monitoring just for the Arranger keyboard this would be a no brainer, I'd choose the PaAS as long as it sounded as good as the specs seem to indicate.

Thanks mate, i'm thinking the same (to go for the PaAs), but people are telling me studio monitors would sound better (which is roughly the same price), that's why I was confused.
I also read somewhere that someone compared the Pa1X built-in speakers and the PaAs, and the Pa1X sounded better they say

I tend to agree with the masses in that studio "near-field" monitors would be more flexible in positioning and therefor sound better, and ultimately be a little less expensive.
That's why I put the caveat about using it/ them with just the arranger keyboard.
Cheers, Hanon

Studio monitors are for studio use and not for living or bedrooms.
If the room is not acoustic they sound awful and give you wrong indication on how to tune the kb.
I would definitely go for paAS because this is designed by korg to give the best sound possible in any room played.
Unless you are paying $3,000 for the monitors, than its a different story.

I absolutely have to disagree.Pa2x wrote:Studio monitors are for studio use and not for living or bedrooms.

It depends how hard you work at it.
If you're serious about making your music sound good, then you've got to actually hear how it sounds. Studio monitors are really not much more than more professional and accurate hifi systems. The whole point is that they show the bad spots as well as the good spots so you can tweak.
It will sound more accurate in a properly designed room, but by having individual stereo monitors, you've got that modular flexibility and reliability to place them wherever you want.
I don't know anything about the PAAS so I'm not talking about that specifically, but nearfield studio monitors definitely have their advantages whether in a studio or a bedroom.
Also; Consider a bedroom for example will have clothes and a bed and wardrobes and other furniture, its not going to be square and flat hopefully. In this case, the messier a person you are actually the better because every uneven or soft surface provides sound dissipation and damping.

Size matters... don't let people tell you otherwise! Tiny speakers in a dinky array aren't going to compare with a pair of nearfields with 8" woofers.
I would look around for a good condition s/h set of HR824's if money is tight. Bottom end for days, smooth and detailed, fairly inexpensive (what, you wanted to put a $3500 arranger through a $300 set of speakers?
).
Can't recommend them too highly (unless you have even MORE to spend!)

welcome mate. Really missed you at the zone. Noone there to spar with
I know you will test the hell out of the PA3X. It will take you months and months though as all the PA product are just so deep. If you ever getb tempted to purchase the PA3X make sure you check outb the 1X and 2X and you could get a hell of a bargain relative to the cost of the top model for pretty much the same machine give or take a bell or a whistle.
Anyway. good to have you on board.

if you get a chance have a listen to a sequence i did on my old PA1X and let me know what you think.
