multitrack sync

Post by drian »

Hi everyone, I´m feeling really stupid about this, but I need help. I want to record a pattern from the emx with multiple tracks using studio one or audacity for software and the presonus usb box as audio interface.
My problem is that when I try to put the parts I recorded togheter they´re never perfectly synced, because every time I start to record I have to hit the mouse and the play button on the electribe simultanously. I thought of using the electribes midi clock, but I can´t get studio one to detect the electribe.
Anyone knows a way around?
Thank you.

I don't know either program but can tell you that you're going to probably want to slave either the electribe to the program or the program to the electribe. I have my EMX-1 slaved to ableton so that it is controlled by abletons global controls.

On the electribe your going to have to change your MIDI Filter PCEN settings. They will default be turned off, or atleast mine were, so you will need to go and change the X to O for the desired control. P=program changes, C=contol changes, E=Exclusive data transmissions, N=note changes.

Without knowing what kind of electribe you have and due to the lack of my knowledge of the program your using that generic answer about changes you need to make on the electribe is the best i can do.

hey, in audacity just drag the entire track left or right to sync it with the others you have recorded on the same page. Tis well simple. You can see all the major bits like drops and beats so you can do it by eye on the big view really quickly, then zoom in to tweek it. Hope that makes sense

D'OH  i forgot, most importantly you have to use the time shift tool...top left, it's the double ended arrow thing. safe.
