multiple notes when striking hard
On my new M50-73, when I strike hard the upper Bb and a few other upper keys, other notes sound ALSO when that note is struck. Any info no this? Thanks.
this is a new one I think. I don't think I've had that issue...
Current Korg Gear: KRONOS 88 (4GB), M50-73 (PS mod), RADIAS-73, Electribe MX, Triton Pro (MOSS, SCSI, CF, 64MB RAM), SQ-64, DVP-1, MEX-8000, MR-1, KAOSSilator, nanoKey, nanoKontrol, 3x nanoPad 2, 3x DS1H, 7x PS1, FC7 (yes Korg, NOT Yamaha).

Here's better detail, from recording this test on the sequencer.
When you strike hard G#4, it also plays C#5 at 127vel, .002 time.
When you strike hard A#4, it also plays D#5 at 127vel, .001 time, but it ALSO played this extra note a second time!
When you strike hard G#5, it also plays C5 (which is lower) at 127Vel, .002 time.
Bizarre!

it didn't do it for me. I played each of the notes you listed VERY hard. Do those always trigger it for you?

yes, those 3 notes always play the corresponding note IF i play the note really hard. thing is, i don't usually play that hard, but when I'm actually playing some of my songs and start doing some rhythmical chording up in that area, i DO hear those bad notes triggered. sounds like I'm making mistakes when I'm not. And I swear, sometimes there are a few OTHER notes that trigger an odd note too, but I can't seem to isolate them yet.
I'm going to try and use it for awhile and see how it goes before I try to repair it, since I don't wanna be cancelling any shows. I have 2 M50-73s, and they BOTH have something wrong with them, and I bought one in Jan and one a couple weeks ago. Says alot about Korg quality if you ask me! My other one is in repair because the Right output (AND the Right of the Headphones jack) stopped working.

wow, that's horrible luck!
I'll start practicing again in a couple hours. Let me focus on those three notes and see what happens but did the other one you have do it or did you notice it after the 1st one went in the shop?

no, my first M50-73 did not do that. its only problem was that after about a month (i do about 15-20 shows a month), the Right output quit (and so did the Right of the headphones jack), so I had to perform in Mono until my "backup" M50 arrived and I took the original one back to the dealer for repair. Then, shortly after I started playing the new one (which I bought new on ebay), I noticed this problem I've described. I don't play abusively hard, but I just noticed that once in awhile I was hearing strange notes when I was playing up high, so then I analyzed by "beating" each note until I found these 3 notes that ALWAYS sound the additional note when you strike them loudly.

I have found that there are a few other notes that are affected too. But I have also found sort of a workaround until I can actually take it in and have it repaired (under warranty). My workaround is that I changed the Velocity Curve on the keyboard from 4 (Normal) to 6. That makes the keys much more sensitive, so even when I play lightly, the piano sounds loud, so I don't have to play hard at all. And this keeps those defective notes from triggering because they only trigger if you play a note hard (like between 120 and 127). I've been practicing with the Vel Curve 6 and haven't really triggered any of the defective keys, so I guess I'll stick with that for awhile - just play very lightly for a normal volume on the keyboard. Thanks for your interest.
