Wavedrum Computer Aided Editing

Post by WaterDrum »

Hi There,

Im kind of working on a freeware database of the Preset sounds of the WD (with Open Office 3.3).
One picture says more than 1000 words (if it is big enough)

http://www.speedyshare.com/files/278575 ... r_edit.bmp

What do you think about it ?

Very useful. What format will you be releasing it in?

This is the a freeware prog called "OpenOffice" at
http://download.openoffice.org/ the extension is *.ods

some more words...

http://www.speedyshare.com/files/27859056/WD_edit_2.bmp

on this picture you can see included pop up help windows

i think another prog will not bring the included help onto the screen.

also i might have a copyright talk with KORG Company (not joking)

Looks lie a whole lot of #s and colums. Can you lock the colum name at the top so when you scroll down you can see what each colum represents?

yes you can..... and more

1. download this + a mappack for english (probably)

http://download.openoffice.org/

2 .install it (about 500MB on the HDD)

3. download this

http://www.speedyshare.com/files/278693 ... 0nc.od.ods

4. doubleclick the downloaded *.ods file "WD_Sounds_1-30nc.od.ods"

oops

if you like it, you can do

-copy/paste sound lines
-build up your own User soundbank
-insert you own data (sorry per hand, about 2 min for 1 sound to read out the WD parameters)
-compare sounds (its all about workflow and rhythm)
-save your edit
-print selected parts (soundlist) ...not tested yet , think its ok
-swap sounds on this forum easy
-a lot of onscreen pop up info for WD not yet included(Ithink its no problem with the copyright)

so .... give it a try ...

To all Testers:
If you want, maybe give a short echo back

did it work ? can U use it ? problem ? is another office program able to
open the original file together with the pop-up menues ?printing?

If you really like it , maybe post a weird sound from your goldmine

PS : i found this

OpenOffice on iPad
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RGcg2sJFZWs

also for Mac and Linux
for me not so interesting at the moment

It's a shame about the ODS file format; I have no burning urge to deal with Open Office any time soon.

There's a converter at Sourceforge that supposedly allows ODS access in MS Office (http://sourceforge.net/projects/odf-converter/files/), but it seems to garble things up a tad. Your results may vary.

You can apparently also open an ODS in Google docs.

You do know that in OpenOffice you do have the option to save in the more widely supported Microsoft formats. Just select the format when you save the file.

No need to force everyone to use OO. I think the biggest problem with OO is that it will never be widely adopted because their file formats will always be considered a 2nd choice. And so many people just don't seem to even realise that you can save as a different format.
Considering I send my CVs for job applications at the moment in PDF format and I still often get asked to resend them in .Doc
same goes for docx - mostly unwelcome.

I just tried it in Google Docs... you're gonna need to eliminate some cells; according to the Goog, there's more than 400,000 active cells, which is their operational limit.

dont fuzz around with converter programs

I do know that in OpenOffice I do have the option to save in the more widely supported Microsoft formats

1 the thing is ,that without the popup help its abit boring,or do you know the manual by heart already.? Maybe,a beginner sure not.
So you can get a very fast overview of whats behind the parameters
2.my thought was to make this a Freeware Software Project.
3.Could you include Helpfiles in Excel,Microsoft or whatever?

Hi Kaden , Xtrade

after I re read your messages I saw the problem
OpenOffice no good
why not good? too slow ,maybe...

you know what?

During installation I renamed my install directory to "WavedrumSoundBankEditor"
and forgot about OOo....
I only doublick on my Soundbank file (as described above)

and this (and more) is ,what this "WavedrumSoundBankEditor" can export:

EXCEL file :

http://www.speedyshare.com/files/278723 ... 0nc.od.xls

try this one
can you read comments in excel ??

btw this isnt at all a *.doc file its a databank ,and not a letter

Yeah, this one opens; The column headers are misplaced though... is that because it's a work-in-progress?
