My EMX-1 is electrocuting me O.O

Post by zulixia »

So basically as the titles says. I guess a wire has slipped or something internally, cause the metal casing on my EMX-1 is live...yes i touch it , it electrocutes me, and to top it off. I get a low buzzing that stops when i touch it from the audio.

I do keep in my little room in the garden but it gets very cold, could it be some moisture inside the EMX-1...since i just got my KP3 i'd rather it not happen to that too...

But i did do a test. I turned the power to the EMX-1 off, but left the speakers and KP3 on, but i was still getting a shock from the EMX-1...is the KP3 sending electricity to my EMX-1 or something, loose cable maybe ? Confusion >.>

Peace.

Actually, the problem is most likely the external powersupply or your household wiring, not in the unit itself. That's because the powersupply should be delivering only 12 volts AC to the EMX-1, which is not normally high enough to break the electrical resistance of dry skin to cause a shock hazard. You should check the house wiring first, because if something is indeed shorting to ground, then it poses a significant risk of death or serious injury to anyone in the house. If you don't know how to do this, then hirer a qualified electrician, because even checking ground could kill someone if they hold onto the wrong grounded thing and the right grounding thing, with your body serving as the electrical conductor.

Ok thanks, i didn't want myself to get a huge electric shock, i can always wire everything in a different plug to try that. If not i'll get right to it, i don't want injuries.

Thanks!
Peace.
