Ideas for new Electribe

Post by drinkleadsoup »

Here are my desires.

-8 drum pads the size of nanopad that are velocity sensitive
-Unlimited sample length. This is 2011.
-No more garbled sound. If I want a hi hat and snare to hit at the same time, then that is what i planned. Give us balanced outputs with efx.
-Switches(tangible) for the efx, filter, and modulation. Something on my esx messes up occasionally. It is due to those three things some how, some way.
-Load the emx with lame-ass pcms if you wish, but leave the esx empty.
AND FINALLY. Tom Tom roll please...
-Attach a monotron to the ribbon controller.

Essentially. I want a machine that combines my mpc and esx. My live shows would be a bit more seamless then. With the motion sequence assignable knobs, I can make any vst I want. Korg. We don't use ableton. Give us something real!

What are everyone elses? And let's try to be realistic. I have wanted four 1998 Heidi Klum clones as dancers for my shows, but it just never seems to materialize.
-monotron
-elecTribe SX
-Kaoss Pad
-CDX-1 Disclab
-microKORG
-MPC2000XL

Can't get images to post here, so I added it to another post in the electribe forum. It's our dream machine

Hey, I am considering buying either a EMX or ESX very soon. Can you explain the above - how do you make any vst you want on the ESX?
Thanks

Cool! Use the KPad as a virtual mixer and the drum pads to instantly switch effects like the KP Quad :D and please include the KPro looper, across those pads.

You can't, that's just his wish list for a new electribe.

OK, thanks. I'm leaning toward the EMX anyway.

Unfortunately for all of us 'tribe members Korg will never incorporate any kaoss gear into a future electribe.. they want us to buy BOTH!

my wishlist is all, realistic, simple stuff that would have big benefits for relatively minor mods... dont rebuild it.. just improve on an already good design

definately velocity sensititive pads would be a HUGE plus.
-additional control on the arp: gate time, pitch AND 'beat timing' control (like that of the drum parts) for the synth parts (EMX)

something super simple yet effective: toggle 'part mute' button/switch (i've seen some people have modified their electribes like this) lets you turn on/off widely spaced parts without having to use your other hand, a HUGE benefit for live play especially if you're using other gear simultaneously.

more effects channels and different ways of chaining them... and better effects... :P

a second set of individual outs would also be a godsend for some people

OTHER GEAR: Roland SP404, MC303 -- Akai MPC-2500 SE -- Zoom R16 -- effects pedals -- DJ-gear -- Access Virus B

Sometimes when you wait for a company implement all the features you want, someone else comes along and makes the product. Pretty much NI Maschine was what MPC users have been asking for, for years.

The Arturia Spark
Image
"BEAT THE FUTURE
Combining the power of analog synthesis, physical modelling and samples, through the intuitive workflow of a hardware drum machine, Spark is a highly creative beat production center.

Spark will save you time when looking for the right drum kit, will get you hooked by its amazing simplicity, and will surprise you by its sonic possibilities.

With a complete library including vintage drum machines, electronic analog kits, acoustic & physical drums, Spark is your weapon of choice to create unique grooves whether you are producing in the studio or performing on stage.'

==========================
Me, I'd like a software interface to go along with my electribe. I'd like using real names for samples and kits. I'd like USB drag and Drop, multiple MIDI ports etc...

A soft editor. These don't sound like fantasy ideas or a wish-list. This sounds like the basic level all current gear reaches.

Now of course if Spark could be run away from the computer, like NI Maschine users dream about too, then we'd have it all.

The Spark price point ($599 USD)seems to follow NI maschine, but Maschine somehow seems closer to that asking price.

the spark seems like a great piece of kit... but.. and this is a big but.. it cant run stand alone.. and that i'm afraid is a deal breaker for me. same reason I never seriously considered the maschine and went instead for the MPC. although I can fully understand the massive cost savings and simplification of design of hardware that comes with software-hardware integration

The Beat Thang looks interesting, but the retail price is $1500!
That's three times as much as an EMX...
