2loose - Space Punk - Jan 11

Post by georgeinar »

Here is a song I already had finished, so I'll start with this one. I'm working on an instrumental cd this time.

this is all done on the M3, w a little tweaking and mastering in Ozone 4.

the rhythm began w using some templates on the m3 for drum n bass (including drum loops) and then modifying and adding my own thing, it was interesting because it is not an approach i have ever used before, so the end result is much different from what i might have done working w a totally blank slate

Great sounds as always. I liked the rhythm a lot too, especially with all of the cymbals and such.

I was going to say to change the pattern a little, starting at 0:37. Like, a different snare drum sound...or a cool effect on that sound...where it could then build up to the next section at 0:48, which is obviously a bit more intense.

But what you have works really well, it sounds great. Just trying to throw in a suggestion. Keep it up, I love instrumental stuff. :)

Very crazy, funky stuff, which I've come to expect from you. But even more so in this one! I felt like I was listening to a DJ at some crazy club like we have here in town. 8)
Perhaps a little too varied. Definitely very progressive. Perhaps it is too short and you could linger a little longer on each theme...

I can't comment on audio and mixing quality this month as I'm deaf in one ear unfortunately. But I expect as with your previous stuff it is quite well produced.

thanks, x-trade, this probably could be developed even more as you suggest into some epic piece allowing for the changes to be less abrupt, however, in the interest of the 4 minute hit, i do try to stay as brief as possible while still getting all the parts in

sorry about your hearing, that is a bummer and one of my worst fears, how to mix your music if you can't hear it, hope you get better fast

Hi George, I've listened to you track a few times now and it gets better everytime, I too love instrumental stuff and Space Punk is really good Goerge.
Some very nice sounds and effects swooping and sweeping synth noises, also the percussion sound is great, very machine gun like, cool!

Love IT!!!!!!!!!!!!

Very "active" indeed and much going on and getting a worked up feeling...! >>>Love the old synth sound where it occurs!!! .

The string sound with other sounds is REALLY GRABBY and I feel it well

Your perc. as usual....., impeccable!!!! Love it .., In particular the 2/3 beat you use as contrast so well!!! at times GREAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What can I say, George ...!!! This one IS A dubble KEEPER and for me is really one of your better (for me)!!!!

Love it and am reminded of sounds from the 80-90 era as well....

Thanks George and I will be Listening to this a lot!!!!!1

John

Best Regards and thanks for helping to do this new OSAM start I am pleased indeed...

Keep up your GREAT Work!!!!

I like the variety of themes you`ve got pulsating throughout this piece.....I have no help critique-wise on this genre of music other than to say it`s easy on my ears.....I have no experience in composing this level of quality in this area....but I`m wide-open to listening and enjoying it. Keep `em coming!
Cheers!

Sorry, guys. I thought I had responded here to all your kind words. I do believe I hit spots here that I did not expect to go. I am practicing these days at letting my pieces breathe and take on their own lives, letting them veer when they seem to want to. But at the same time, the key seems to be having killer drums and crisp sounds. I did use a template for drum n bass which supplies certain portions of the sounds but much is what I developed after loading the template sounds.
