Need rather urgent help please:/ M3 wont boot past logo

Post by jake88 »

I've got a gig tomorrow with my M3 and it wont boot past the very first screen (M3 Logo). The red loading bar that's usually there doesn't show up. I know there are soft resets I can do, but not sure what the key combinations are.

If anyone can point me in the right direction, i'd really appreciate it.
Never had this problem before:/

Thanks a bunch.

first of all try starting the M3 without any USB device connected to it.

usb key glitches are a known issue.

Check if this changes something. If everything goes fine, it's good news: you'll have just to check and replaces a damaged or badly formatted "expansion" usb key, without any reset.

Nope, already tried that.

Anything else to try?

Did you mess with the internal ram? Upgraded it, installed an exb-256? Uninstalled it?

If you installed it, try removing it. Ditto for the radias exb.

I am just trying to isolate any easily manageable variable before looking for serious damage to the "core"

Nope, no addons to my M3. (I opted for the physical Radias Real estate;)

Ummmm I can't think of any other info to give you.

I unplugged it for only a week (We were having multiple power outages everyday) and yesterday plugged it back in, fired it up With my flash drive in it because I have it auto load a few PCM's but it didn't do anything but show the "Korg M3" logo. No load bar...

I ended up loading a few programs into a triton I borrowed...so the gig I needed this for ended up being alright:P

I would really appreciate your continued help though, if you can.
I tried re-initializing the RAM with (Hold "Reset Controls, 1, and 2 keys with power-up") but that didn't accomplish anything.

Also, when you boot it, you don't have any pedals or anything else plugged in the back. That might be another thing to try.

Alright, I've got a ton of crap plugged into the back. I'll give that a try.
I'm going to call Korg tomorrow if nothing works and see what they say. I'm a little worried lol.

Thank you!

Try to remove and insert again the internal SD.
Maybe it doesn't make contact as should do.
Look here how it's done (you can try to upgrade it or even try to read it with a card reader to see if it has some problems).
But I am afraid you'll lose waranty.

Did you try to roll back the OS to an earlier version?

No I can't do anything with the OS. The keyboard wont boot past the very first M3 logo screen.

I'm taking it in to get serviced next week. I think the last power surge we had fried something. Possibly the internal SD card???

In any case, if it's an expensive fix, home owners insurance will cover it;)

I'm out of the warranty as of three weeks ago, unfortunately:/ lol. GREATTT timing haha.

But that's something I may try. What's the Max size SD card I can go up to?
