Issues/Questions with KP3

Post by Define_Life »

So I bought a KP3 recently and am loving what I can do with it. Problem is that whenever I put a mic into the mic slot in the lower right corner (SM57 dynamic mic using XLR to 1/4" cable), I don't get any signal. At all. The clipping light doesn't come on, nothing. I've tried every conceivable variation of adjusting settings and knobs, so I'm pretty sure it has nothing to do with that. Also the mic and cable are both working.

Could this be because the preamp in the KP3 is broken? If so, could I just buy a preamp and run the mic through that first and quit worrying about it? (Really don't want to bother with returning the thing...bought it over the internet and it would be complicated). Or, alternately, is there another way to run a mic through the KP3 to distort your live vocals without going through the mic slot in lower right corner?

Finally, on an unrelated note, is it possible to apply effects to only one sample bank at a time, rather than all that are playing at once? If so, how?

Sorry for long post, and thanks in advance.

although you didn't mention it, I assume you have found the input select switch that selects the rear line input or the front mic input. presumably you've adjusted the mic trim knob too?

you can't apply FX to individual sample banks, only to the total output

Yep, done every variation of all of that to no avail.
