Yamaha Motif XF announced

Post by Hugo »

Read about it on the following link:

I packs some pretty impressive features, with my personal favorite being the 2gb flash memory expansion option. Just recently Chicken Systems anounced the Translator Motif Edition, that is capable of translating most sampler formats (including the popular Native Instruments Kontakt format) into Motif file format. This, coupled with the flash memory, opens up for much easier handling of samples.

What do you think about the Motif XF? And how will Korg and Roland respond to this new beast? I think Korg would be wise to follow on the flash memory expansion, and the Chicken Systems solution would also be advisable.

Personally I'm happy with my M3, but am anctious to see what Korg comes up with as response to this new "threat" :)

It's just an other Motif! No big deal, I think!

it's a workstation war.... it seems to me that they think that the more huge ROM you have, the more huge RAM you can install, the more huge Voice List you can scroll, all this makes a greater workstation....

with M3 and Karma2 i believe korg has made a great step forward in terms of sound quality and features even still some basic features are missing; the same has done Roland with the Fantom G (and much more with V-synth)...

this Motif look like the other Motif just on stereoid, but no real innovation inside.

i wasn't that impressed by the sound demos they had there ... the M3's sound quality seemed to be better or at least on par compared to the sounds that were played in the demos. everything seemed to be something the M3 or OASYS could do. just seems like a XS Extreme-type model.

and it's black... WHO EVER HEARD OF A BLACK KEYBOARD? keyboards are white, silver, gray, red, and blue, and sometimes yellow. lol silly yamaha.

id personally be more likely to buy a keyboard if it was black. especially a glossy black. maybe with white writing.

Well i am pretty disapointed with all 3 brands, Yamaha, Korg, Roland.

If to speak about Korg i guess there will not be anything something extraordinary, i belive thay will make the same m3 with a little bit of mamory, and other minor futures, thay won't give us m3 with the sound and possibilities like hight quality VST are offers for years, unfortionaly....

the only real color for keyboard is SILVER (as the silver beast) or RED

Yes, silver is definately THE colour for a synth. Regarding the Motif XF I must say I'm a little bit more enthusiastic than most seem to be here ;) What I really think is great about this upgraded version is the flash memory cards. In total, it is possible to have access to about 3 gb of sound, which I think is pretty awesome.

I want a keyboard that's translucent grey, so I can install LEDs and change the color of the keyboard in sync with the music. Ima pimp my keyboard.

im not a korg fanboy either (alright maybe a little, but only because my dad used a maxi-korg in his day and because my favorite artists use it) but I definitely hate nord. tried a few in a guitar center; the synth section sucked, and im not in the market for organs and pianos

regardless, wagon red is an ugly color

I have an American DJ Mega Pixel LED light bar that changes in time with the beat. I want to put it inside a keyboard. :D It's amazingly bright and colorful. And it can be controlled with midi using a DMX controller.
