Anybody here with m3 and SONAR 8?

Post by cyphersuit »

I only managed to set up my m3 as a masterkeyboard, now I want more. I'd like to control my vsts with the m3.

Can anybody explain to a noob how to do that? ACT? Midi Learn?

I am helpless :o

After you have successfully connected M3 MIDI to SONAR, look into the EXTERNAL controller settings. There are a lot of built in controller maps.

Press EXTERNAL button from the CONTROL ASSIGN group (located at left of the sliders). Then Control Surface tab on M3 screen on P0.

From Setup list select you VSTi if it's already listed, if not you can make your own setup, both by using MIDI learn in SONAR, or specifying the controller messages to be sent for each slider and button.
Roland Fantom-G6 ARX1, Korg M3-m exb-Radias, Korg Z1-18v, Roland MC-808, Roland MC-909, Korg microKontrol.

The M3 doesn't come with External setups for Sonar -- neither in the factory RAM, nor via download from Korg's web site. You get built-in support for Ableton Live, Digital Performer, Cubase, FL Studio, and Garage Band, but not Sonar.

I suspect this is the Korg-Roland rivalry at work. If you want Sonar external setups for the M3, you have to either program them yourself or find someone on the net who's published one. And likewise, Roland/Cakewalk doesn't include an ACT preset for the M3 in Sonar -- you've got to configure that manually, as well.

Okay, thanks!

Maybe someone here published one? Google isn't helping me at all.

Would be greatly appreciated!
