M50 X/Y stick not controlling Vector field in Korg Legacy DE

Post by kontroller4938 »

Here's my problem...I have the korg legacy collection digital edition which
emulates the M1 and Wavestation, installed. Everything works peachy except when
I try to use the M50's X/Y joystick to control the Wavestations vector controls.

I selected external control on the M50 and then on the touchscreen, I selected
control surface tab and selected the KLC wavestation external control preset.
The M50's stick still doesnt control the vector stick on the software whether
standalone or vst.

Any suggestions?

Maybe it isn't intended to control the vector stick?

The Korg workstation joystick doesn't just transmit two directions like a vector joystick. It transmits X direction as pitchbend, but then +Y and -Y separately, as CC01 and CC02 respectively. It is also sprung so not really ideal as a vector controller.

My guess would be that it just isn't programmed in that mode to operate the vector joystick.

i had a feeling that was the case.....how about the kaoscillator pro.....do you think that would act as a vector controller for the KLCDE?

Yes, both the KOPro and the KP3 transmit X and Y position over MIDI, so you would be able to use them. However that would be overkill if that's all you wanted to use it for.

The PadKontrol and NanoPad both have an X/Y pad which could also be used for this purpose. I believe the Kontrol49 actually has a vector controller... As does the OASYS though!

Have you checked that the assignable knobs change the vector position? it could be set up that one controls the X position and the other controls Y position.

actually I would use the KOpro for other things like Vocoder recordings and other neat stuff.....

you know I didn't mess with the knobs to see if they controlled vector.....maybe they do....
