Using a M50 Bought in the States in Australia.
Hey there,
I bought a M50 in the states which is being shipped over to me in Australia where I now live.
My question is what would I need to run this safely? I understand the voltages are completely differant and I could maybe fry it if I just plug it in with a normal adaptor?
What do I need to do to run it safely? Do I need a step-up or step-down convertor?
Would appreciate any help from anyone whose been in the same situation, thanks!

I'm a bit confused on this point.
Page ii of the Owner's Manual states:
"Please connect the designated AC adapter to an AC outlet of the correct voltage. Do not connect it to an AC outlet of voltage other than that for which your unit is intended."
That would preclude powering a North American unit from a 50Hz, 240V outlet, no?

No,
The rating on the power unit is what is 'intended'.
plugging it into a 2400 volt line for example (they do exist) would be bad, because it says 100-240V, and plugging it into a grid with a different Hz rate (not sure that they exist) would be bad.
If it says 100-240V 50-60Hz, that means it was intended to operate normally under those conditions.
If it said only '100-120V' or '230-250V', then obviously you would need an adaptor if your power grid connection is not the one stated on the mains adaptor.
In short, always read the adaptor. If your power connection is on the specification of the adaptor, then it was designed to work with your power connection.

sorry got one more quick question for ya
was just talking to a friend of mine who does repairs on proffesional audio gear and he said this
"You need to check the power supplies AC input range. It may state it accepts 90 - 260 VAC which will mean it is an export unit. If it only says 110 VAC (or similar) don't plug it in."
Could you tell me what the AC input range on the power supply is please?
thankyou!

I think you will have to wait and check your own adapter, since it may differ from ours. Not likely, but just maybe. Is good to be sure.

As already noted, the power supply says, for input ..Jhambero wrote:sorry got one more quick question for ya

"100-240V ~ 50/60Hz 1.2A"
Whether this will work in Australia or not, I don't know ...

Jhambero,
Users that have replied to your concerns bought the M50, at least in the US (120V) and Southamerica (220V), and the AC adapter is the SAME: what else do you need to know?
If you feel unsecure, just wait, check the adapter and go from there.
