Using Korg EMX1 as sound module from Cubase
I need an EMX1 MIDI device map so I can use the EMX1 as a sound module from Cubase - if you have also a device panel to provide that would be great.

you don't need a device map or panel to use it from cubase.
just plug it in, assign the cubase tracks to different MIDI channels of the EMX parts, and away you go.

I have a problem using both the ESX and the EMX with cubase 5, in the sense that I can record notes and automations by playing on the korgs, but when the notes are played by cubase, the korgs stay silent.. I have installed the new devices, but the patches bank stay empty.. What am I doing wrong?
According to the above statement I understand I don't need to write a WML file just to use Cubase as a sequencer for the korg?
Thanks in advance

I too am setting up EMX-1 as sound module from Cubase LE4. Works good, I can assign the tracks from my midi file to channels on the Electribe and sounds good.
I noticed when I do something like solo/unsolo a track, or press Stop or RTZ on the cubase transport control my pattern number jumps to A.26 Funk1. I am trying to establish a pattern with the sounds I want for my song but kinda frustrating that it jumps to another pattern.
I must have something simple misconfigured. Is this a CC control mapping I need to adjust?
Anybody know what I'm talking about? Thanks in advance...
p.s. Cubase is what I'm using because it came with another piece of equipment, I'm open to other DAW apps if there is a "best" for use with Electribe.

Why don't you read the manual. There is a chapter about using the EMX-1 as a sound module (page 79) and on page 82 the switching of patterns is described (switching patterns -> program change message)!

Thanks, I did read the chapter. Just can't figure how how to adjust settings in Cubase to stop sending the change signals. Anyway I've found that the issue varies by project and doesn't happen with a new blank file. I'm starting from pre-made .mid files perhaps there are some commands embedded in those files I'm not aware of. I'll keep digging.
edit: I found it. By using the list view in Cubase I found and removed various pattern changes stored in the midi tracks I imported. I think it appeared to jump as I would focus on track parts and read in the pattern change associated -- wasn't actually the transports sending signal. Thanks for your reply.

Saye_One,
What I did was setup Cubase to send notes which were then played by the Electribe MX. I was just experimenting to see how to get something going so I used pre-made .mid files. I took each track and assigned to the channel I wanted (1 thru 5 for synths, 10 for drums).
Eventually, I will want to use the software to fire patterns on the EMX itself but for starters I wanted to test using the EMX as sound module.
I could try to walk through how I set up, but forewarning I'm brand new at using both Cubase and anything involving MIDI so it's very possible I just 'got lucky' and some of the steps I did may be technically incorrect or perhaps unneeded.
I have used software for recording in the past (with a program called N-Track) but then only did digital audio editing, not MIDI. I'm trying to get back into music and setting up my new toys and trying to learn.
I'm running Cubase LE ver 4 on Mac 10.4.11 and using the Yamaha UX16 USB-MIDI interface.
If you think it'll help I'll try to walk back thru the step by step and write it up. Not sure how it might vary with version 5 and possible other OS. Perhaps if I write up what I did another reader more experienced might offer tips on what might be best practice and offer corrections to my setup as well.
