Can M50 replace triton Extreme?
Hi I'm a long time advanceed Trtton and Extreme User. I use the Triton Extreme on the road as part of backline Stage Plot as well.
Aside the fact that the M50 is the more economical of the M series..... Was wondering if you could load the Extreme and/or Triton Classic Sequences and sound set into the M50 for compatability. As I want to be ready to get with the M series and future korg workstations/keyboards for performane and incorperation into my current gig and capability!
Thanks

You cannot load Triton programs or combinations into the M series workstations as they utilize a different synthesis system.phly23 wrote:Was wondering if you could load the Extreme and/or Triton Classic Sequences and sound set into the M50 for compatability.
M3, Triton Classic, Radias, Motif XS, Alesis Ion

As Syntoid just said, you won´t be able to load new sounds to the M50. However, you can use the internal sounds on your sequences. So you can load them up and reassign the tracks to the sound patches you like.

Well, you can load "new" sounds, but not sounds from the Triton series, and not sounds that use RAM samples. M50 users can load M3 sounds that use the core 256Mb of factory samples.

there is a set for the M3 as well.
If the M3 and M50 couldn't share soundsets, I probably wouldn't have bought one (or both) of them. I was actually in the market for the Triton Extreme and fell in love with the M3 instead. Picked up the M50 just for gigs.
If it weren't for the compatibility of soundsets between the Triton and M line, the M50 beats the Extreme in just about every category.

Current Korg Gear: KRONOS 88 (4GB), M50-73 (PS mod), RADIAS-73, Electribe MX, Triton Pro (MOSS, SCSI, CF, 64MB RAM), SQ-64, DVP-1, MEX-8000, MR-1, KAOSSilator, nanoKey, nanoKontrol, 3x nanoPad 2, 3x DS1H, 7x PS1, FC7 (yes Korg, NOT Yamaha).
M3 vs Triton Extreme
I own both synths.
M3 has a lot of great features, but as far as sound goes, much to my dismay, the Triton Extreme blows the M3 away. Especially the organ sounds.

Re: M3 vs Triton Extreme
While I don't want to dismiss this out of hand, it's hard for me to accept, since the M3 out-specs the Triton in every conceivable way. Now, I don't want to fall into the trap of "newer = better," but when it comes to romplers, it's hard not to notice the massive upgrade in ROM (160 to 256 MB). I can accept that there may be certain signature sounds on the Extreme that the M3/M50 can't reproduce, but to say that it "blows the M3 away," across the board, is just difficult to believe. You mentioned organs. What about acoustic emulations: pianos, strings, brass, drums?tmatos75 wrote:the Triton Extreme blows the M3 away.

To my ears, the rotary algorithms sound the same as on the Triton. But including the organ vibrato / chorus effect is a big improvement over the Triton.
And I definitely agree the pianos and EP's are improved.

triton extreme organ sounds are better than the M3
I did say that the M3 has a lot of new features that the triton does not. However, when it comes to making music, sound is more important than features.
Yes, the M3 has a lot of new cool sounds, and the pianos are better than the Triton Extreme. But I expect the M3 to be better, that's why I bought it and that's why I was willing to pay more money than I did for the Triton.
As soon as I got the M3, the first thing I did was to try to replicate all of my Triton sounds so that I cant start using it live. And for the most part, I was able to replicate most of them to the point that I cant tell which keyboard is playing.... except for the organ sounds.
The triton has better organ sounds than the M3. The effects, at least to my ear, also sound better on the Triton than on the M3. They just sound thinner on the M3 no matter how much I tweak them.
I've lost count of how many musicians have complimented me for the awesome organ sounds that I am able to produce with my Triton Extreme. When it comes to organ sounds, the M3 doesnt compare.
Just my opinion.
PS. I would like nothing more than for Korg to prove me wrong by releasing a PCM package that includes all of the triton organ samples.

Perhaps the Triton has better stock organ sounds than the M3. I doubt it, but maybe some think so. Yet, the potential for awesome organ sounds is much greater in the M3. I purchased the M3 to develop one or more piano sound products for the format, thinking the organ presets were as good as they could get. But when I explored what the M3 could really do in the B3 department, I was very impressed, and I changed my programming schedule to release a product that would unlock that potential for all M3 users. Seeing comments like this, though, I'm not sure folks know it exists yet, so I mention it again:tmatos75 wrote:When it comes to organ sounds, the M3 doesnt compare.
If you want high quality organs that make your M3 competitive with dedicated organ keyboards, Organimation will take you there. As far as Korg products go, only the CX3 / BX3 and OASYS have had organs of this caliber before now.

Ok. I love the organimation demo on your website.
But you achieved it by creating your own samples, correct? The M3 is incapable of producing that organ sound out of the box, right.
One question. Did you sweeten your organ demo with any outboard effects? I am leaning towards purchasing your K-sounds package, but I will be very dissapointed if it doesnt sound exactly like what I heard on your demo.
