EMX to Legacy

Post by s-mc »

I have a Korg EMX-1, but would it be good to also use the older electribe models?

They might not have as much functionality and features as the emx-1 but is there good sounds packed into them? aka; beats, mostly as the emx-1 doesn't have as much as it does have synth.

Any advice would be appreciated! 8)

If by "beats" you mean drum patterns, your best bet is to make them yourself. That's true no matter what instruments you use, and the EMX-1 definitely has the tools you need to create good beats.

I Co-sign on that comment as well.

You might try adding a sampler into you're setup i.e ESX-1, ES-1 etc..
It will broaden you're musical palette if thats what you want to do.

I will be using other synth/samplers later on, I was just wondering if the older electribes were any good. I'm quite comftorable with the emx and was considering using the other models due to ease of use and with being able to operate it with fair knowledge.

I dont know too much about the other first generation electribes. But I can with certainty tell you that the ES-1 is money well spent.

Thanks for the recommendation :D

My particular liking towards the electribes is based on the fact that you can track parts together to make different concepts of songs, on the fly. I prefer that easability.

The ES-1 cost a lot or does it depend on if its new, used or where you get it?

Theirs always a steady stream of ES-1's up for sale on amazon or ebay at any given time. Usually they range in price anywhere from 200 dollars up to 300 dollars. Unfortunately korg discontinued the ES-1 about 3 years ago. So buying one new is probably out of the question.

I disagree with everyone so far.
GET YOUR SELF THE original ER-1, it sounds a bit thin (but most KORG stuff does any way). You can play on that for hours and never lose interest!!!
