Korg M50 Editor Issues (Help please)

Post by Opor2nhitty »

Okay well here's my problem. I recently purchased the Korg M50 and when I connected it to my pc via the USB cord and set up the DAW's on my pc to recognize the Korg as my primary input for sounds so that I can record directly into my recording programs while playing it gives no sound on the pc. I open up the Editor like a VST and direct it to the sound that I want to use for the specific song I'm trying to record and use the Korg as a virtual instrument on a virtual instrument track, but when I play the track back after recording it ONLY plays back through my Korg and NOT from the pc... Even once I disconnect the Korg from the pc and try to play the track back it has absolutely no sound. But, if I plug the Korg back in and play the track it will play through the Korg again. It's almost as if it's not only using the Korg as the input device but as the output also. But that's not how I have it set up. Anybody know what the problem may be? Any advice that would fix this would be much appreciated. Thank You

The M50 VSTi is not like your normal VST instrumentss where the sounds are generated within the PC. So you'll have to record the audio output from the M50 to get it as an audio track.

Hmmm, I see what you mean then. Is that possible to do using just the USB connector? I've only just started getting my studio put together at the moment so I'm still missing a mixer but thats next on the list. For now I have the Korg M50, M-Audio Keyrig 49, Lexicon Alpha Interface, MPC500 and my 4GB RAM laptop that I use to store my files and host my recording programs. So there are no MIDI ports on my pc at this time.

There's no way to get audio from the M50 using the USB cable. But There's two inputs on your Lexicon interface. Use them to record the M50 output. You also mention a midi interface for the PC. What do you need that for?

Yeah that's basically what I was talking about was just a way to get the MIDI through from my M50 to my PC. Was just wondering if it was possible to record from the M50 to the PC through the USB but I didn't think it was. I'll just have to go pick up some MIDI cables sometime this week to connect them is all. Thanks for the help :)

You get midi in and out through the usb cable, so there is no need to get a midi cable.
