Deal braker question before deciding on the M50 vs the X50

Post by kikedeolivos »

Is it true that the X50 Mac Editor / plug in does NOT work on the latest Intel Macs and it does work on the M50?

(Macbook)

Thank you

Korg X50 support page wrote:Editor Version 1.04 / Plug-In Editor Software
This software allows you to edit the X50 in a stand-alone operation, or it can run as a plug-in editor in an AU, VST or RTAS environment.

This is Version 1.04. This is a newer version than the one that was included on the CD-ROM that came with your X50. It fixes a number of issues with previous versions and now includes Mac Universal Binary support. For more info read the PDF document listed below.
Looks like you're good for Intel Macs too even with the X50.

Supporting a new OS is just a matter of waiting for the next version release of the software. Nothing more. I don't think it should be considered a deal breaker.

As I mentioned in a previous post, I have both these keyboards, and I also seem to recall that you said it was likely to be your only 'board for some while?

If that's the case I'd strongly recommend that you choose the M50.

The X50 is a great, and extremely lightweight & 'simple' keyboard, but the M50 has so many more features, and so much more flexibility.

I'd suggest that when you've exhausted the possibilities on the X50 (which won't take too long), you may ponder "why didn't I get that M50 when I had the choice?" !!!!

The M50 will keep you occupied & entertained for a very long time!

My opinion only, but I think you should seriously consider it.

Good luck, and let us know what you decide?

All I'm going to say on this topic is, "you get what you pay for." There's a reason the X50 is cheaper than the M50 which is cheaper than the M3.

The x50 you will outgrow, the M50 you won't.

Hi all,

I've just stumbled upon the Korg PA500 (on Korg's website) and they share basically the same specs like Sound engine (EDS) and FXs with the M50.(4 inserts to 5 on the M50)

There's audio clips over there and the Leslie effect was very convincing.

I know that the M50 will have much more possibilities to have fun with than the X50 for the upcoming years and yes, this will be my only keyboard for a while.

Thank you.

You made me laugh.

I sent (and received) an email from Dan Stesco (great guy BTW) , a favorite forum programmer for the M3 (and M50) at the Karma forums and he told me that, whatever organs the M3 has, they could be ported to the M50 and, on top of that, if there's any organ I would like, he could program those for me.

The only drawback for the M50 in Argentina is that the price is $1450 (taxes included) but, I think I will go for it next week...we'll see,

I promise I will let you know the outcome.

Kind regards.

I told you that when you first asked the question... Did it sound better coming from him?

If you didn't have several threads at each forum asking the same questions, it'd be easier to keep track.

I give up...
