Controlling Karma Parameters Dynamically from Cubase

Post by Howard »

Hello Everyone,

I posted this inquiry to the Karma-Lab forum but have gotten no reply so decided to post it here in case anyone has some experience with this particular function.

I'm trying to control a Karma parameter (density of notes) for one of the sounds in a combi using a midi controller in Cubase. I have read the Oasys manual but this part is difficult to follow because many different parts of the book are referenced. I concluded the best way to do it is with dynamic midi, controlled through a CC from Cubase. I believe I set it up correctly but have had no success getting the parameter to respond to changes in the Cubase controller.

Here's my setup:

I have the particular sound set up on channel 1 of a combi. Using Karma module A, I've set up the source in Dynamic Midi 1 to CC #83 (since that seemed to be the only choice for control from outside) with continuous action and sent to RT params control. I set up a controller for CC #83 in Cubase on channel 1, which feeds the particular sound in the combi. I then assign DynaMidi1 to control the Karma parameter in the GE RTP Scenes screen on Oasys. I also have the Midi in to Karma module enabled in the Global parameters.

Before I played the track in Cubase, I drew some envelopes in the CC #83 controller but nothing happens; there is no control of the parameter. The slider on Oasys controls it just fine, but the controller in Cubase does nothing when the GE RTP is set to respond to it. Cubase controllers also seem to work fine for other Oasys parameters such as filter cutoff but not for this Karma parameter.

I've spent a lot of time investigating different settings and possibilities on teh Oasys but have been unable to get this particular function to work. Any ideas would be appreciated.
