Benefits of having an EMX and an ESX

Post by Alex Syse »

I have the Electribe EMX and I am thinking about getting the ESX. Does anyone have both? What are the benefits for recording and live shows? I currently have Ableton Live for my software. Thanks guys.

Wouldn't you be better with something like the APC40 if your familiar with Live?

I dont really perform "live" so to speak, but I do have my ESX and EMX connected together via midi currently as we speak and I love it!!!

Its knob tweaking heaven, and its the best of both worlds sampling and synthesis.
I havent integrated a PC into my setup, and to tell you the truth i really dont plan on it...I just like to keep everything basic and straight to the point.

Together the EMX and LIVE are a great match.

I have both EMX, ESX. I also use LIVE. Over time, as I get more familiar with LIVE I find I use the EMX less. This is only a personal thing though becuase I don't care for the synths of EMX, I can just use VSTs in Live and create much better sounds. Similar with the drums of EMX. they're lacking in my opinion.

That said, I do love the EMX and think it pairs with LIVE quite well.

To add ESX will only improve on the knob twiddling and easy of creating something on the fly.

So it really depends on how deep you are with LIVE. If you're really deep with it, you can probably stick with what you have.

ME, I'm beginning to move in the opposite direction: LIVE plus ESX, but that doesn't mean I've given up on the EMX - EMX is a deep machine

the effects on both 'tribes suck however and maybe that's why most of what i end up with is Electribe audio dumped into LIVE
