i am new to sequencing, and between jumping back and to from the OM and the PG, I am missing something that should be easy to do I know.
so i find a drum track I like...how do i get that track into my sequencer.
yeah, i know...a dumb question...but i'm just a piano player and really struggle with the technology on the workstation.
when i do get a drum track in the sequencer and play back the sequence, the drum track is not there.
i know there is a simple thing i am doing wrong, but so far it is alluding me.
if anyone is interested in helping me out on this, i would be greatly appreciative.

i think my confusion lies in the way the sequence is saved and recalled...it seems that it may be putting it in a different place...so when i think i lost it, i stumble upon it and realize that i didn't...sometimes.
i don't know...if i had the time to just keep on playing with it, i think i would figure it out...i just don't play every day and stay on top of it...i am just wanting to do simple things with the sequencer...
also...if i find a drum track to jump into sequencer using the "quick way"...hitting enter andrecord, what i play back sounds just fine...but when i go to add a third track....that's when my stuff seems to disappear.

simply way to achieve is:
in program (or also combi) mode select the sound you like (let say M50 grand piano), then in the main screen of the program, on the bottom you have drum track and drum kit, select the kit you need (e.g. standard) and the drum patter you like (e.g. pop ballad).
when you are comfortable with sound, drum track, click and so on just press simulataneously the buttons ENTER and REC.
this is a shortcut to sequencer mode, automatically M50 import in seq mode the program you were playing (in track 1) with all the IFX and MFX and also the Drum Track (on track 10), the bpm are the same you were using in program mode. when you play REC, M50 automatically will record both on track 1 (the piano in this example) and on track 10 (the drum) since the multi rec option is automatically checked.
note that to have drum start you have to push the drum track button on M50 panel.

Well, I'm not in front of mine right now, but somewhere in sequencer mode there's a place to tell it how to record .. I think the default is 'overwrite', but there's also an option for 'overdub'. Maybe when you're recording subsequent tracks it isn't being set to overdub and is just writing over the original material.
Just a thought, something to check anyway ..

An earlier post refered to using the shortcut mode to get the patch and drum track into the sequencer. Once you've laid down the first "take" with the piano and drums for instance, if you wish to add a third track (horns) for instance. you must take and unselect "multirecord" mode. otherwise you will be writing over what you just recorded.

well, once you get your first two tracks recorded trying do the following:
just below the song name, there is the track number, selected track (1 to 16) is the one you hear if hit a key. using touchscreen change the number of this track to a non used track (e.g. track 2).
now select which instrument you want to have on track two. you can do this directly from the screen.
now move to preference tab (tha last one in the right bottom corner). here deselect Multi-Rec and Select Overwrite (this means you are recording a single track at a time and not two track as before, and each time you will rec over the previous take, i.e. the previous take, if existing,of track two will be deleted by the new recording on the same track).
goes back to prog 1-8 tab, press rec and then press start/stop, countdown will start and you cna now rec on track two while listening to other already recorded tracks.
