newbie..looking forward to learning from everyone

Post by slawson »

i just bought the M50. I debated for a long time between a workstation and the Roland 700 GX (with its fancy touch and focus on piano sounds...in the end, the onboard sequencer was the difference maker for me...i know this machine has way more than i will ever use it for...mainly i just want to be able to throw down a drum track, a bass line, maybe an organ or something...that will give me something to play along with. i've had it a couple of weeks...been able to work the sequencer somewhat, but still get overwelmed...jumping back and forth between the owners manual (hardcopy) and the parameter guide (pdf on the CD) has me a bit challenged..being just a hobbist, i really just want to play...not much patience for digging into the tech stuff. so i thought i'd join this forum...you know how you can dig through a book trying to learn something yet someone who knows can tell you in 5 minutes what would take forever to flesh out of the manual. so i'm hoping that when i get kind of stuck i can throw a question out here and pick everyone's brain. thanks, and I look forward to making some progress and learning to tap into the power of this instrument...never had a "real keyboard"...i had a roland jv30...you, synth action keys and only 60 keys or so....been playing more lately and wanted the 88 weighted key...so far, its been fun...but i need to get a better handle on how to tap into the power...
