Keeping sequencer track settings during real time recording

Post by cbachelu »

Can anyone tell me how to keep the track selections I make when real-time recording a song in the sequencer? For a given track, I select the instrument program I want to use, and set the volume, then record something. However, when I press the Locate button to return to the start for playback, the track settings revert to program 000 and the volume to 127. :x This is very frustrating. There must be a way to keep these settings. HELP!

For normal sequencing, the program should not reset.
How are you trying to record?
Is it an SMF, you're using?

I'm just trying a very simple sequencer record. I followed the instructions in the manual to create a new song and begin recording. I set the track instrument and the volume, then set the time signature and let it record for the intro beats so the time signature is saved. Then I want to start recording, but the track settings always seem to be gone. Evenutally, I just reset them and began to record.

I noticed that the information does seem to be there somehow because if I do certain things after having recorded something (e.g. quantize), the instrument settings ARE there. I've taken to quantizing the first bar over and over because I know if I do that, I don't have to keep resetting the track parameters.

I've also noticed there doesn't seem to be a way to keep the time signature past what has been recorded. It always defaults to 4/4, and if I forget to change it before I continue recording (using punch ins), it doesn't use the time signature of what came before (in my current case, 3/4), it uses 4/4. This is very frustrating too. It would be nice if I only had to change from 3/4 if I wanted to rather than have to remember to do it every time I pres rec/write.
