Hey Daipei.
What Milo says is true, however this will also reset all changes you have made, so just know this before you push "Intro1".
Your PA is not broken, only ill.

I too am having the same problem. I tried using the Enter button, but no luck. I also tried doing the INTRO1 trick but also no luck. It is as if the screen is completely frozen. In other forums I read that in PA-80 you can do the Fade In/Out trick to reset the OS but this does not seem to work on the Pa-50. Any ideas or suggestions?

Wrong. "Intro1" is the technique both for PA-80 and PA-50.Korgfan123 wrote:...I read that in PA-80 you can do the Fade In/Out trick to reset the OS but this does not seem to work on the Pa-50. Any ideas or suggestions?
However do this in the correct manner;
When PA is NOT TURNED ON,
Insert DISK1
Turn ON PA
On question "Load OS from floppy?" press "Intro1".
This will effectively wipe SSD and instead of upgrading OS it will reload fresh OS.
It will also delete ALL resources and owner-made tweaks.
Resources must be re-loaded from disk after OS is installed.

Okay I have tried all the suggestions here but no luck:
1) In my floppy I have OS v1.04 that is obtained from the KorgPa website
2) I have tried numerous floppy disks to make sure that my floppies are not corrupted/damaged
3) When I press the Intro1 after it says "Load OS from disk, Press Enter" nothing happens. It is as if the entire keyboard is frozen. I have tried pressing Enter and every other button on the korg in other trials, but no luck.
Any other ideas??? Thanks for all the help so far!!

Nope. You are mistaking. I just read on the KorgPa website that Fade In/Out also works for erasing the internal SSD memory on the korg Pa50 as well: (read under disk)Wings wrote:Wrong. Ah...well, in that case I must apologize.
Either I suffer from amnesia or Korg has changed the OS-procedures lately. (it's many years since I owned a PA-80) (maybe I was remebering PAX-procedures instead).
But anyways, if this is the case, why can one not install the new OS using "fadein/fadeout" -procedure? Being that this deletes the SSD I mean?

Hi Wings, I did try the Fade In/Out procedure but no luck. So what I think my problem at the moment is short-circuitry of some sort in my Korg because when I turn on the keyboard, all lights are off (except for the LCD screen) and none of the buttons work (the Intro1, fade in/out, enter, and any other key for that matter). I wonder what i need to do now

Well, like I mentioned it's been very a long time since I owned a PA80, but I have a PAX now, and there it is normal operation not to light anything until the OS have loaded.
I honestly don't know what you should try...but it seems to me that the OS have been corrupted and a new OS is your only solution.

Does installing a new OS entail pressing and holding the Fade In/Out before turning on, then inserting the floppy, and then turning the system on? Because I have done this numerous times and the OS won't load. I have also tried the same thing with the INTRO 1 button. Like I said when the keyboard turns on, all buttons (including keys) are all frozen and have no functionality. Someone else also told me to hold the Disk+style play button simultaneously just like above and then try to see if the OS will load but no luck. I do not mind installing a new OS as long as the Korg works but it seems to me nothing is working at the moment.Wings wrote:Well, like I mentioned it's been very a long time since I owned a PA80, but I have a PAX now, and there it is normal operation not to light anything until the OS have loaded.

look, it might be useless, but you should try to see if your floppy drive unit is ok. i remember a time when mine was writing just fine, even read disks, but no other floppy drive was able to even recognize the floppy disks writen with it.
it is worth checking this again.
LE: just to make sure, i am talking about computer's floppy drive.

If my memory serves me right; this that you're describing is a mix of two things.Korgfan123 wrote:Does installing a new OS entail pressing and holding the Fade In/Out before turning on, then inserting the floppy, and then turning the system on?
If the internal testprogram is to be started (only usefull for technicans) some of this you describe would be correct.
However when installing a new OS,
1. insert disk (floppy), no power turned on
2. then turn on PA and wait, no buttons pushed or held
3. when question about "load OS" appears - press either Intro1 or Fade in/out.
I thought this was clear and you tried this? Was I wrong?
