32 new Combis?

Post by Charlie »

Just read in an "official" announcement of SK at KLF that a set of 32 completely karmafied Combis will be released in Feb 09. Good news ... and I understand it's the co-work of Eric and Stephen - I believe we had a thread here on this but couldn't find it.
Eric, any comments?

Hi Charlie,
Stephen did make a short reference and a link to a our forth coming combi collection, Catalyst v 1 in his statement over at KLF about "KARMA, Korg, and Open Labs". Here's a link to the Karma-Lab announcement .
http://www.karma-lab.com/sounds/oasys.html
As you can see, the target release date is Feb. 1 (today); however, there may be a short delay in order to get the final package (PCG, User Guide, installation instructions etc.) in order.

This collection derives from my first collection of combis for the OASYS called ECLECTRIC v 1. However, with its massive overhaul and expert tweaking of every combi by the master KARMA guru, Stephen Kay, we decided to rename it. As for pricing and delivery details, you'll have to wait for the "official" release announcement by Stephen.

Be assured it is definitely coming very shortly.
Cheers,
Eric

Hey Eric, its now up at Karma-Lab. Price is $32.00 US. Not bad, a buck a Combi. I've ordered it and will let you know my impressions of the set after I get the chance to play with them a while. Thanks in advance for doing these. :)

These combis seem great!

I love the documentation that describes in detail what each button, knob and slider is doing.

I so wish Korg had released a similar document for the Oasys factory combis...

Just out of curiosity, does anyone know the difference between the 2 formats available for Catalyst 1. One format says for OASYS and the other says both OASYS and KARMA OASYS software. Presumably this means that both formats are included, but both these choices cost the same, and therefore I was wondering why not just sell Catalyst with both formats in the first place unless there is another difference between them?

For example, I haven't bought KARMA OASYS yet but am planning to soon, so would inevitably choose the package in both formats, unless there is some difference between that and other package in OASYS only format. If anyone could explain this it might help others too. Thanks

As I explained over at Karma-Lab, both packages contain the PCG data for loading into the OASYS. The second package also contains the KDF file that is loaded into KARMA Oasys software. If you plan to buy the software, choose the second option.

It's just the way I've always done it; the download is smaller without the KDF.

Yep, at this point, it hardly resembles the original. If you happened to have the earlier one, rest assured you're still getting your money's worth with this new version. I probably put nearly 180 hours of work into it - from the KARMA assignments, to the Scenes, to the mix, to the Real-Time Controls, I made sure that every single thing is connected and does something useful (as documented in the User's Guide.) Thanks to Eric for his massive patience on waiting for me to do this - this has dragged out well over a year since I started.

Woopie, it's here. LOL. No, thank you Stephen, first of all for inviting me to join Karma-Lab. I know it has been a bit of a journey for both of us since we started this project. And, secondly, I must truly thank you for bringing my combis to an entirely superior level. Just amazing work - in every respect. You won't be disappointed folks.

Cheers,
Eric

Only 32 Combis?, with the Oasys price, why not at least something like 320 on CD?
Thanks anyway, for this great Set, nice job Guys, and cool price. :D

Killy these combis are not from Korg. They are from Karma Labs.
So however much your Oasys cost you is irrelevant.
