Loading midi files PC to M50?

Post by Run »

I got a lot of midi files in my PC and I'd like to load them into the M50.
Is it possible and if so what's the best way to do it?
Thanks for any advice.

Easy. Save your mid files on an SD card from your PC.

Put the SD card into the M50 and load them via the Media button on the front panel.

You can use up to 2gig size SD cards which will hold a lot of mid files, but there is no way to directly shunt them over via USB cable.

I might add, make sure the M50 is setup for GM (General Midi), or most likely none of the instruments will be correct!!!

Ok thanks...I loaded many midi files and the sequencer plays them in GM mode but for some I have to mute some tracks because of weird sounds???...why? because what surprises me is that these midi files play well in my PC with a good free program called "Jammer Song Maker" and also play well with a Fender midi G-Dec 30 guitar amp !!! I would also like to program midi parameters to be able to activate, via the M50 sequencer my two modules : Kurzweil Me-1 and Yamaha TG-33. How can I do this?...because when I play these midi files with the M50 those two modules don't receive any midi signals !!
The M50 midi out is connected to a Casio midi thru box to the ME-1 and the Yamaha TG-33.

Thanks again for helping.

What it is, is whoever made the midi files, used a machine (Either computer or workstation.

If a program is picking it up, it was probably done in like "Fruity Loops" or something like that, those programs can detect it.

The M50 WILL NOT detect non GM midi files. Think about it, it's a workstation, not a full-fledged computer..

Just change the timbra/track to an instrument you want to use for that track/timbra, then save it....

midi track instrument

Post by shydog »

I had the same problem.. I had to change the program by using Page Select-Track Edit - Then use your pull down for track edit -- Event Edit.. Now uncheck everything except program change, press OK.. Now you will see only program change info and you can change your instrument setting.

I also had to adjust tuning up 1 octave for my bass and drum tracks..

Page Select - Track Parameter - Pitch

Hope this helps any who have had this problem..

You have to go through and actually delete the program change entries. Then go and set up programs in the sequencer like you normally would for each track.

How to delete the programm change entries?
The problem am facing is, am able to change the programme (instruments) on the touch screen , but when i hit the play button i hear all previous sounds(instruments) . What i am looking for is to edit the midi file i loaded into the M50 and save it as a .PCG file or .SNG file with the instruments(programmes) i edited without changing the musical notes . is this possible ? if yes , how to do that ? could you please guide me step by step instruction on how to do this , i would deeply appreciate your kind help, i dont have much experience in using the sequencer in M50....
