Please help when pressing record volume goes low on Pa2x Pro

Please help when pressing record volume goes low on Pa2x Pro

Audio input passing through korg Pa2x pro. The output is at a normal volume.
When I go to to create a sample by pressing record the volume decreases
by half so only a small signal displayed on the meter display. The sample recorded can't be heard.
Is this a faulty Pa2x pro or is there a setting I have missed?
