Score: I can see the staff, the notes , the lyrics, but no c
Hello..Loaded a tune 1000 pro midi file in player 1 . Started playing . Checked "show chords " in options. Click on Score Score 1 and everything shows up...but chords!. Then I tried a non cmmercial midi file ...the same . Finally, I recorded a piano part in track 1 and saved as a song. When played back....no chords are shown in Score page! Has any one else experienced this? Or.... has someone been able to actually "see" the chords displayed?

Chord button
Touch this button to make the chord symbols (if available) appear or disappear.
Means that it can display chord symbols that have been recorded in the MIDI file, like Lyrics or other metadata events (it is not a track). There are many formats for those data, most of them are proprietary (e.g. Yamaha's).
Unfortunately Korg does not specify which ones the Pa recognizes, and up to now I was unable to find a Windows MIDI file editor to include chords with a Pa-compatible format

Korg Pa800, Pa50, i30, Hammond E111, Edirol PCR-800, M-Audio Audiophile FW, Cakewalk Sonar LE, Band-In-A-Box, Harmony Assistant, VB3, MrRay73, Pianoteq...

Hi,
I also would very much like to display chords in Midi files in song play mode and sent in a post on this several months ago and was advised by Rob Sheratt that he thought this would be available in OS 2.0. Unfortunately, still under OS 2.0, I also have been unable to display chords in any of my SMF.
I was however looking through the manual [OS 1.0] and discovered on Page 262 that ' When in Song Play Mode, the PA2X can also display SMF lyrics in Solton, M-Live [Midisoft], Tune 1000, Edirol, GMX, HitBit and XF formats and the chord abbreviations of SMF in Solton, M-Live [Midisoft], GMX and XF format.
It is interesting that the PA2X can display Solton chord symbols, which are presumably produced within SMF recorded or edited [to add the chords] on the Solton keyboards sequencer [?]. It would therefore seem feasible that such a facility could perhaps be added to the PA2x sequencer [one for the wish list]. Otherwise it would seem that chords would have to be added manually by editing SMF in a suitable M-Live, GMX or XF format sequencer before downloading the edited SMF back into the PA2X.
I am not aware what M-Live, GMX or XF format sequencers might be available so it would appear that further research is necessary. Anyone know what is available?
Regards,
Peter J

Peter J,
I have lots of tune 1000 MIDI's and I just tried about 30 of them...none show chords.
So, Don't know if they just don't have chords in them or the feature doesn't work?
If I get some time today, I will look at them in Sonar to see what's there.
Anyone else been able to get chords on anything?

As I said earlier, I could not display chord data generated by the few software I own (see below): The Pa does not recognise their formatLee wrote:If I get some time today, I will look at them in Sonar to see what's there.

Lee,
The PA2X recognizes Tune 1000 lyrics not chords. Chords are only recognized if in M - Live [Midisoft] , GMX or XF format.
Since my previous post, I have not been able to get much information on M - Live [Midisoft] or GMX but have discovered that XF is the Yamaha PSR keyboard format and that there is a Freeware programme PSRUTI which allows the writing of Lyrics and chords in a XF format midi file. I have just downloaded PSRUTI but have not had time to test it. Based on the programme description however it would appear to be exactly what is required to edit midi files to suit the PA2X and show chords.

Post subject: Re: Score: I can see the staff, the notes , th
I have now been able to try out PSRUTI on one of my existing midi files which had only lyrics. The file was opened in PSRUTI which analysed the file and inserted the appropriate chords. I then saved the file in PSRUTI as an [XF] midi file and when this file was loaded in to the PA2X, on pressing the Lyrics Score button, there were the lyrics and CHORDS!!! With some midifiles some tweaking of chord positions / types may be necessary but this can also be done in PSRUTI.
It would appear that some time will have to be spent in reformatting Midi files in PSRUTI but then the chords display will be recognized by the PA2X. In operation, PSRUTI seems to be fairly straightforward to use and I was able to carry out chord insertion without reference to the manual.
