Hi Michel,
I can understand your disappointment and frustration.
Unfortunately, your sample RAM has always been faulty but I believe that the test for it did not work until now. I'm pretty sure from your own experience, and from the same situation with two other people I was corresponding with, that here is a bug in the sample RAM checking algorithm in OS1.60. The algorithm seems to only work reliably just after you have reset your keyboard using the "reset" procedure, and then loaded the OS1.60 again. Of course loading OS2.0 would have the same effect.
It would be helpful if Korg would kindly acknowledge that they are aware of this problem with the sample RAM fault detection algorithm.
I am almost 100% sure that this was the problem faced by another user, Simon, and was part of the reason why a big disagreement developed when I was trying to tell him his sample RAM was faulty even though the test for it showed it was "OK".
Best regards,
Rob

Hi Rob,
I have a Pa800 upgraed to only OS 1.51. The bugs and complaints kept me from upgrading to OS 1.60, hence no faults and errors so far. Now, since Michel has encountered an issue which is very much my nightmare as well, how do you suggest I check my RAM being faulty from before and haven't been spotted till date? Unless this issue is resolved, I wont probably upgrade to OS 2.0.
Regards,
Umair

Hi Umair,
I posted everything I know above. If your sample RAM is faulty all I can say is that you better find out quick before the guarantee runs out. Also a faulty sample RAM will eventually cause other things on your Pa800 to stop working, even with OS1.51.
I don't know why you never upgraded to OS1.60 since it was far more reliable than OS1.51. Several people had crashes under OS1.51 that were resolved by OS1.60.
Loading OS2 will at least force any issue with your sample RAM. It is not OS2 that will make your sample RAM faulty. It's just that loading OS2 might detect that there is a fault, and then you'll know, and you can then get it repaired, hopefully under warranty.
And hey, lets hope and pray your sample RAM is OK anyway?
Best regards,
Rob

Hi Rob
Unfortunately There is no authorized dealer here in pakistan Therefore, Umair doesn't claim his board warranty. This is very risky condition for a user like him.
Can you give advice to any new buyer What should he supposed to check while the time of buying because I am also gonna buy Pa800 board but my inner is not satisfied. Please shed some light on this (buying) issue.
Thanks & Regards

Hello Umair & Sarwat,
I had this problem in my board... fortunately it was under warranty and I got a smart replacement... Thanks to my dealer and KORG...
You have to go to 'Sound' mode > hit 'Record' button under your screen > go to 'Sampling info'
details here - :
http://www.korgpa.com/pa_root/en/produc ... 0_faq.html
It should not show '0' in Available memory RAM bank etc if the machine is new or much of samples are not loaded. If the loaded samples are more than 67 MB then it will show '0' as the RAM is FULLLY utilised.
Even today whenever I need to check this info on my machine - believe me... I have to 'DARE' to touch the sample info button...
Wish you the very best...
Kind regards
SP

Hi Rob,
Now here my worst fears come alive. My board is without a dealer's warranty as I had imported it last December through a music shop here in my city. Now, if God forbid, it happens to be that my board is in anyway damaged or corrupt, WHAT WILL I DO ?????????
Rob this was the very fact that kept me from upgrading to OS 1.60. But this time, it might just be a necessity tp upgrade. I never had any issues with OS 1.51 even after using its sampler extensively as well.
Regards,
Umair

Hi Umair,
OS2 will not cause any hardware fault to develop on your keyboard. If a RAM fault is discovered and OS2 fails to run then you can revert to OS1.51 so long as you kept the installation files. If a RAM fault is confirmed then send a PM to JerryTheK and ask him where you can get the keyboard repaired?
Best regards,
Rob

Hi Sandeep,
Thanx for the reply
Well, I also keep checking that quite frequently and keep telling myself that all is well. But I hope you can very well imagine the situation that has gripped me. I will certainly upgrade to OS 2.0 cuz Its got a whole lot more to offer. But not moving to OS 1.60 earlier was cuz of the mere fact that my board was already performing perfectly with OS 1.51 and never felt the need to upgrade.
Plus, there were bug fixes as well as some enhanced features but the fear factor over shadowed everything. Nevertheless, I will once again check the sample RAM area and go for the upgrade.

Umair

Hi To Jerry and Nedim
In Pakistan there are many users who use KORG keyboards/Products and not prefer Yamaha and Roland. KORG is pioneer in Pakistan and Indian music industry and lots of musicians are using only KORG Products. I think it's the need of time that KORG should establish their authorized dealership centre in Pakistan. I hope KORG would do it very soon.
Thanks & Regards
