Nanopad - questions...? (edit: some answers)

Post by stutter »

these might be a bit early - I don't know if anyone has these yet. Anyway:

- how do the pads compare to the pK?

- Do these also have a Native Mode?

Three of these and some programming skill could provide a nice clip grid trigger for Ableton I reckon.

I noticed that when you go to read the midi implementation guide on korg's site they give you the kontrol 49's version. This could either be a bug or maybe they use the same messages.

I'll keep you updated, what I'm doing now is creating a large native mode program that will take over my microKONTROL, padKONTROL and nanoKONTROL. First two are ready I'm gonna do the nano next. By all means they should have native mode. It would be very un-korg like if it didn't.

I don't have a nanoPAD to tell you how the pads are. They do look the same as the pk pads though.

native mode patch sounds interesting. I made one of those. Keep me updated on yours, pm me if you release it on the world.

I miss my microkontrol having messed with native mode, would have loved to get the lcd screens displaying Mackie Control text, but at the time I didn't know how.

edit: and thanks for the reply

I'm not making a patch, I'm making a custom c++ program. If you know c++ I'll send you the source.

Definitely seem like they would be incredibly useful for that seeing as how they are only $60. I'm getting two whenever I make it out to guitar center and I can't wait B]

well, someone has one and has provided a concise review

No lights. Shame.

Pads a little softer and less sensitive than the pK. As expected really. I'm guessing they're better than the *Kontrol keyboards though, since I think Stray411 would have been a little more critical in his review if they were the same.
