shipping the pa800 in the gator GK-261R

Hi, I need to fly with my pa800 and for this I bought the gator GK-261R case which I know people have used with this keyboard. The fit is quite tight, but someone told me that he popped the rubber legs off of the keyboard to make it fit better. Anyone have any experience with this case, and did you remove the legs?

Avi Shalom!

My pa800 was bought in the USA (Alto Music, New York), traveled inside the Gator GK261R from NY to California via FEDEX, and from there was shipped via a ship to Ashdod, Israel (almost 2 month jurney) and from there on a truck to nearby Jerusalem where I live. Total journey was about 16,000 km.

The board arrived in perfect condition. I posted pictures on this forum previously inside the case. Upon arrival to California there was a crack in the welding of the music rest (the wire detached from the metal shelf) but I suspect it was shipped that way.

I did not remove the rubber legs.

I was wondering how you dealt with customs and if you paid customs, how much did it come out to?

No duties on this item, only 15.5% VAT. I did not pay this either, nor shipping, as the board was shipped along with house contents of a friend with "returning citizen" status. The case and the keys cost me less than 8500 NIS.

Hi Nesh,

Thanks for your reply. I was wondering if you had either thought of or actually installed a handle in the middle of the gator case. Although it seems to be the best case for flying with the pa800, I find the two handles a real pain. Any ideas?

Also, did you know that Marom Music sells the pa800 for 16,000 NIS?! I can't understand why someone would actually buy it from them.

What kind of music do you play?

The Gator handles do not bother me, I hardley perform outside, only some parties at friends etc.

Marom prices are outrageous! Their cash price is 14k NIS (US$3700), unless I had access to the tax exemption and free shipping I would probably buy Yamaha S900 or Roland E60 that are priced more reasonably.
