Newbie needs advice

Post by geomyk »

M3 is my first serious workstation/keyboard and i have some questions.I study the piano for 9 years and with my band we are gonna play some Dream Theater songs. But,im complete newbie and as i understood from what i read there are some things i need to do.
1)Find/create some more sounds(leads, organs, stuff that JR uses generally...)
2)connect my m3 to my pc
3)get some software
Can u tell me some basic things to start with?(suggest/link some software programs, instructions etc...)
I noticed that m3 has a lack of some basic sounds....Are they included in the update i read about?

Sounds like you're in for some serious work.
The M3 has the capability to create sounds fairly easily, and I find it lots of fun also, so that shouldn't be a problem for you if you study the manual in that regard.
The software is on the disc that came with your M3, but there are some updates, one that is still forthcoming, next week is projected. I would wait for that one myself.
connection to PC is easy. http://www.korg.com/service/ look for the EASY START GUIDE, and the M3 System Version 2.0 - M3 XPanded Upgrade.

thanks a lot for the quick respond.I found some sounds for the korg m3,mainly from the official site download page but also from some other sites and ive downloaded the update with the plus 512 sounds,i think this all those new sounds will be ''decent'' for live performance...(i dont know which ones the update includes). So,ill just go buy a USB cable and put all those files in my korg right?
Oh,another question..I have a clavinova electric piano,if i get a cable will i be able to use its keyboard and use my m3 as a thing called ''midi''?
Others' opinions/advices are always welcome :D
