Perform live - but how to start?

Post by klarre »

Hi!

Recently bought the TR88 model and have been playing around with progs and combis the past two weeks. My goal is to do some live performances on clubs in the future, but don't really know how to start. Have been inspired by this video by the way: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XuYJ65si6i0

Trance and dance is the alignment. I am going to use the TR88 as the main instrument playing drums arpeggios and strings and other necessary instruments. I will also use a second keyboard exclusively for piano sounds.

So to the question:

Since I will be (hopefully :P) playing on a club there will be no time for breaks in the music. Is it possible to create songs that last for, say at least, an hour, by the inbuilt sequencer? And is there a handy tool available for the PC that can export to a working file format, so I can use my computer to write the music instead of using the synth? Or is it in someway possible to seamlessly crossfade between combinations? Which way is the one to go if I want to do live performances?

Thanks a lot for sharing your experiences!

you should be able to import/export standard midi files from your computer or tr and transfer them with an sd card.
